Posting for traffic.
Me and my dc are away on holiday in a cottage. We’re on a pretty tight budget. It’s bucketing down and the dc are all bored and fighting.
can anyone recommend anything that’s free to do indoors in north wales before I lose my mind?!

Get some really good waterproofs (or even average ones) - boots and waterproof trousers as well as coats - and do what you would have done if not raining.

We go to Wales a lot (albeit South Wales) and that’s what we do.

Board games? Cards?
Talent show?
How many mud pies can we make?
Walk? Yes you will get wet, but hot baths and hot chocolate when home

I'd rather go home.

When you decided to go to wales on holiday in February what were you hoping for?
Just trying to work out what your plans would have been had it not been raining?!

You can't be entertained by some simple pastimes?
The OP asked for free things to do.
Not everything is about spending vast amounts of money to keep kids and unimaganative adults occupied

Where are you?

The weather is very regional. Just driving from one side to the other can mean the difference between rain and sun. It will often be raining in Betws y Coed yet dry at Llandudno or vice versa.

I was near Wrexham recently, for an extended family event. I didn't have an awful lot of time, but I did have the morning before the wedding. Becasue there was a big football game on, I didn't stay in Wrexham. I did stay in Llangollen and went to this aqueduct place. It was quite interesting, and you can do a little canal boat trip. The village itself was also really pretty to walk around, if you've got waterproofs. The drive over the ridge on the Horseshoe Pass was very scenic, and there's a Milk Bar place you can stop, with good views, for a drink/snack.

@HollaHolla The aqueduct is currently closed (until 15th March IIRC). They are currently draining it to inspect it, so there's no boat trips atm and the towpath is closed too.

It's Wales what do you expect? Get back to England and civilisation.

And people are surprised that there is hostility towards the English? 🙄

OP, rain should not stop anything. Hope you had a great time!
