To think there's nothing I can do with my hooded creepy eyes.

I'm fifty. I've lost a decent amount of weight and it shows on my face but my eyelids seem More hooded and skin crepey!
Can I make them brighter, less haggard looking with make up? I've a big event coming up and would like to look well but I simply look tired and old right now !
Thanks.

There’s eyelid tape you can use. I’ve never used it but I’m useless with makeup. It’s very popular in Asia though. Might be worth a try?

Have you tried looking online for make up tutorials for older skin and other related issues such as yours? There are so many ways do make up your eyes and disguise problems.
Perhaps make the most of your best facial feature, so to distract from the aspects you feel uncomfortable with.

You can have them lifted if you feel strongly and can wrangle the cash.

It’s an old and very established procedure, and if you eyes are approaching piss holes in the snow territory, it does work

Cheeesus · 18/02/2024 19:37

I looked at the tape but eg here
https://amzn.to/48mkFEs

it seems that all the good reviews are for a different product. I think they just don’t work well.

Start using retinol, especially eye targeted product. Medik8 has some excellent products.

I find tight lining and mascara, with blusher on the outer third of the eye works.

A bright dot just on the inner corner and on the brow.

A light base and warmth from the blusher and bronzer at the outer circle of the face.

Sam Chapman has some good videos on how to camouflage hooded eyes by applying darker shadow in the crease.

I have hooded eyes so I know how difficult it is with makeup.
I've just had a look at the tit tape for eyes and I wouldn't know where to start. I have a lot of wrinkles around my eyes, the sides and under. Pain in the arse but lucky to have some eyes and all that.
I can't use liquid eyeshadow but have had a bit of luck with highlighter/shimmer on the brow bone.
I get jealous of people who can do the whole smokey eye thing.

I have hooded eyes that got worse with age, I now have a small amount of Botox to lift the brows which makes a massive difference to me but very subtle, not frozen looking

The eyelid stickers from Amazon are fantastic. The little thin half moon shaped ones. I used them for a few years until I had a blethaplasty a few years ago. It was money well spent. Made a huge difference to my confidence and the results are amazing. The stickers look like they won't work - but they really do!

Treehugger22 · 18/02/2024 20:28

Only botox to be honest op. Have a look a Korean skin care though for wrinkles in general

Merryoldgoat · 18/02/2024 20:28

There’s a fab beauty YouTuber with hooded eyes who does great tutorials. I’ll find her…

Do you have a link for the stickers you used please?

Smitha Deepak is great, but I never look like her when I’m done! I think it works brilliantly on smooth skin like hers. On my crepey lids, not so much.

I use the liner I tightline with to shadow the socket and inner and outer corners, then soften/blend it a little.

Powder on the eyes doesn’t work for me now I’m older. Creams probably would but I don’t have any, so I’m using eye liner pencils.

blush/bronzer used in bigger sweeping strokes works much better than any attempt to pat powders in to precise blended out lines.
