Testing for nut allergies

Hello, I’m looking for some advice regarding nut allergies. I’m posting here for traffic!

My toddler who is 2.5 has been eating peanut butter for a year with no issues.

It has occurred to me that I should be perhaps introducing other nuts, cashews, pistachios, walnuts etc. I was thinking of doing this with a nut butter.

However, can I introduce nuts at home, or should I be getting an allergy test first?

TIA!

So he has no allergies so far?

You do not need an allergy test before introducing nuts.

As an aside peanuts are not nuts, they are a legume like peas.

You don't seriously think parents get their child tested for allergies before introducing foods if no known issues?

You do not need any allergy testing and even if you did them and they were clear it wouldn’t really mean anything as they can develop out of nowhere (my DS loved his peanut butter before he reacted to it randomly one day).

Just introduce as normal, the vast majority of people are not allergic to nuts.

Why would you get a child tested if there are no indications of allergy? I’m genuinely confused - is this a new thing?

Thanks for those who have given helpful replies!

He has eczema, which is why I was concerned as I’ve heard there’s a link.

Introduce early in the day on a weekday if you can. I stupidly introduced an allergen late on a Friday…. Yep, LO was allergic (not severely, but got a rash on body) and no GP available. Lesson learned.
