To think the job market is really bad at the moment?

I've applied for jobs a few times over the last 5 years, and usually found there are plenty of jobs to apply for at a range of levels (from entry level/graduate jobs to senior roles) and I tend to hear back quite quickly from several jobs (usually within a day or so). However, that's not been the case at the moment. There are barely any jobs available to apply for, and the ones I have applied for haven't gotten back to me at all. I'm unemployed and am checking all the job sites multiple times a day and there's just not much coming up.

Has anyone else noticed this over the last month or so?

I've been looking intensively since july and only just got hired. One thing I'm finding bizarre is companies advertising a role and never hiring for it. Things I was dismissed out of hand for in july are still advertised now. As a business, if you've lived without this thing for 8+ months, do you even need it?

Well done for getting hired. Yes my DH had several interviews with company (although all on teams and bit half hearted) then dismissed him but recruiter said they hadn't hired, wanted some experience so niche he said they were looking for a unicorn.

Retrain as a social worker. We've got more vacancies than staff ☹️

It's the end of the financial year. Budget approvals for new posts kick in 1st April so you should see an uplift in the next few months.

I'm finding the opposite and so is everyone else in my industry. We simply cannot attract candidates. Public Sector salaries though so you could earn a lot more private.

I'm looking at retail / customer service / admin jobs and most are still advertising at £11 / hour or under as if this is a perk -when it will be below minimum wage in about 2 months time!

I am seeing a lot of marketing jobs coming up on linked in. When I was job searching I found linked in was the best tool, and signing up to recruitment agencies. I guess it is dependent on what area you're in but I would definitely suggested linked in if you're not already using it.

And here I am struggling to recruit staff. No applicants or if there are one or two then they don’t show for interview!
