Robot vacuums

I think I want one?
Do I?

I swear to god debris just drips my kids whenever they enter a room.
I don't even get 5 sodding minutes clean floor satisfaction after hoovering, as one or other filth magnet will come in sprinkling gravel or whatever the hell it is that they are covered in.

I am thinking one of these robot things tootling about when I am at work would let me come home with a happy heart?
Would it?
Are they any good?
(I hear they don't trawl through dog poo nowadays, they go round it)😁

Yes we love our roomba. Have a big hairy dog and if you get the docking station it even empties itself and we only change the bag every couple of months.
The cleaner then comes fortnightly and does a proper hoover.
I'll be getting one for upstairs too soon.

I've got 2 Eufys.
Household of me, 2 teens / young adults / cocker spaniel / visiting DP & Great Dane.

Basic bimbling that I got in Aug 2020. I was very happy with it and rarely did additional vacuuming other than the stairs. It was scheduled downstairs every night, and I took it upstairs (dogs aren't allowed) a couple of times a week.

It broke about a year ago and DP took it away to fix, when he didn't bring it back the next weekend I was so fed up at vacuuming myself that I brought a new one.

Slightly improved Eufy, it is more focused and travels in an up/ down patterns and then round all the edges. Also shows a map of what it has done, but can't be programmed to specific areas. It covers the same space in a shorter period.
This one now lives downstairs and is scheduled for 3am everynight.

DP then brought the other one back, so that's my upstairs Eufy and is scheduled to go on twice a week in the day when we aren't here.

The dogs overnight in the utility room and the eufy can't get in there.
I have had a dog poo incident, it was not fun.
I have a generally tidy household, so no real issues with stuff on the floor, sometimes it gets hold of a charging cable.

I used to empty the dust bin every time, now I probably empty every 3 or 4 runs, and clear the rolling brush every couple of times I empty.

I love mine, I did a lot of research on which to get beforehand though. I deliberately got one with no water/mop feature, and an auto-empty bin. That makes it pretty much self-sufficient because I never need to pick it up to empty/refill/charge it. It vacuums the whole flat every day, only catch is that you do need to get into the habit of not leaving socks or cables lying on the floor or it will try to chew them. For me, it's more useful than the dishwasher.
