Went to Sainsburys yesterday. I usually get one of their mobility scooters but they were all taken. Anyhow only wanted 8 items so popped my walking stick in the trolley.. took my time and got my items.
Walked to the check out with least queue just as a woman at the same time.. ( she didn't have a trolley) .. she stood in front of me and held her arms out like a statue and said to me " I'm here before you and saving this place for my daughter.. she's just finishing the shopping".
When the queue moved l started putting my 8 items on the belt.. she started taking them off and putting them back in my trolley.. at that point her daughter comes up with an overflowing trolley piled high and starts unloading onto the belt.
Luckily a worker saw ' something" happening as l was holding onto my trolley and my walking stick ..and came to ask if l was okay.
I explained what happened .. the ' Statue Mother" started shouting and saying she was there first.. customers were looking and l just burst into tears.
( I'm 65 and disabled.. ).
The survivor took me to self checkout and did it for me.. and just said to the Statue woman that in future don't save places without your shopping.
Has this now become a thing..?
I remember a couple of years back someone standing in a disabled parking space waiting for their relative to arrive for the space.
I remember telling them they couldn't do that.. but they got nasty and l couldn't do with the stress.
