Is this normal? Cleaning company asking me to provide all materials for an end of tenancy clean?

Trying to work out if I'm being unreasonable or this is standard practice: I've moved out of a property which I'm about to rent out and am getting it deep cleaned.

Cleaning company I have spoken to about the deep clean (they have been cleaning for me for years) have suddenly told me I need to provide all the stuff (mop and bucket, dusters, hoover, all cleaning materials) for a deep clean tomorrow. I would have done this if I were living there but I've moved half an hour away. I've said I'll cover the cost of all the stuff they need but could they please buy it and I'll reimburse and they've said no I need to actually buy it all and put it in the property (which means taking a couple of hours off work as its booked in for tomorrow).

Maybe I'm being a dick but I don't really have time to do this and I don't understand why I can't just transfer the money for them to do it. But happy to be told if I'm missing something.

I could have lived with it if they've warned me but this has been booked for ten days and they have just sprung this on me now, which has irritated me.

That’s never happened to us (will be moving for 7th time soon. Not tenants but we always deep clean before we move)

Depends on the agreement. Cleaners quote with or without products and equipment so it depends on how they work. I would have expected them to be clear on how they operate.

Either way, they won't be doing the work if they haven't got thr tools - have you an old friend or neighbour who could help you?

Some cleaners provide products, some don't. It's usually reflected in the price.

I wouldn't suggest they start buying mops, hoovers etc and that you'll pay. It could cost you fortunes. Surely they have a contract with a cleaning products supplier where they get it cheaper/ in bulk? If it was a self employed domestic cleaner who'd brought her mate round, then I'd buy them the cleaning materials and possibly get them to collect the hoover off me (in paid time). My cleaner used my products at home.
But as it's a bigger firm I think that's bizarre. Tell them they need to source that stuff themselves else you will get the deep clean elsewhere as it's not feasible. You no longer live there.

That is ridiculous at such short notice. I've had deep cleans and the cleaners always had their own products and hovers. Could you ring around a few places and see if they could fit you in for tomorrow instead?
