Is this attempted fraud? LifeLock?

Hi,
Posting here for traffic and hopefully a quick reply.

I received this email this morning from Live Lock. I have NO recollection of this and it certainly doesn't sound like something I would ever take a payment out on. I've check my banking app and can find no evidence a direct debit/standing order.

I've tried calling the number supplied- it is dead, no ring tone.
The website had no live chat that I can find.
I can't find an option to opt out, despite this being mentioned in the email.
Any suggestions? Would my bank be able to stop this?
I really, really can't afford this to leave my account.

Sounds like a scam. If you are concerned, ring 159 to contact your bank.

Where has the email actually come from? Hover over/click on the sender’s email to see the actual email address. Does it look like a genuine Norton email address?

Unless your name really is Paid User, it's 100% a scam. Just ignore it. If you're worried phone your bank using the number on your card or statements, they will be able to advise if the money is coming out of your account.

Thank you!
I've had a stressful weekend and this just about ended me. Thank you so much.

The first indication its spam is the fact its addressed to "Paid" rather than your name and that the account name is "Paid User"

Anything not addressed to you directly in these cases is usually spam

Then there's the less than perfect English, although it's better than some

I bet if you look at the email address it was sent from then it'll be a string of random letters and numbers and won't contain Norton in the email address at all either

It's spam, ignore it. Don't follow any links and if you have then run an antivirus check on your computer/phone

I had that......I had to Google what Lifelock was as I'd never even heard of it, let alone paid for it before.
Ignore it, it's a scam.

First it doesn't have your name on

Second it says "we will take the money within hours" A) never in my life has a company said this to me and B) that's one of the ways they try and get you, with immediate time pressure.

There is some good tips online about good ways to spot scams if you ever want a read, one is called take 5 but there is loads out there 🙂

sounds iffy to me too

WiddlinDiddlin · 12/02/2024 12:35

Address doesn't exist. It's a pretty well known scam if you google 'LifeLock by norton scam'

determinedtomakethiswork · 12/02/2024 12:46

In future open the email on a laptop and hover the mouse over the sender's name to find the true address.

But this email is so full of typos there's no way it's real anyway.
