Hi All,

So I was scrolling on TikTok and I came across this video:

vm.tiktok.com/ZGeBX9Brh/

Here a mother discusses how she educates her children in terms of financial management and all things money by deducting a small amount of money from their pocket money to teach them important life skills such as managing money, budgeting, the importance of investing/saving etc etc.

Although controversial, I can see how this is a great way to build a small stepping stone to teach children money management from an early age.

On the other hand, I do think it's important to let children be children and to not burden them with 'adult' things too young as they have time later on in their lives to learn these things.

What are your thoughts? This is just a light-hearted post. Please do not to be cruel/mean towards the mother as she's just doing what she deems is right for her children's personal educational development.

Is it unreasonable to expect children to make a small contribution to learn the importance of money management?

So she gives them £5 and then they gives her £1 for their contribution?

I think it's fine although I think if I was the child I'd just think 'oh great, pocket money day, here's my £4'
