In thinking this guy just wants my dd's shoes for ebay?

I've just put all off dd's old shoes onto freecycle as I am too lazy to ebay them and am having a clearout.

There are 10 pairs of shoes in all, all Clarks, all in good to excellent condition (toe scuffs on most but otherwise fine). They go from sizes 4.5 to 6.5 (I've been hoarding them thinking I'll ebay them but I just can't be arsed anymore!) and I listed them all individually.

Some bloke has just emailed me saying

"Hi, Can I have them all, please?"

Now, if you actually wanted the shoes for your child, you'd want specific pairs, wouldn't you?

I'm a bit about this and yes, I want them out of the house so I suppose I shouldn't be, but I'd rather they went to someone who would actually get use out of them, rather than someone who appears (to my cynical mind) to be looking to make a quick buck out of them?

So does any MNer in East London/Essex want them? (I thought we used to have a 'for free' section on here but can't find it any more?!) All in G or F fittings....!

Ooh, I never knew that, Elkat!

Thanks for the tip - if no-one's replied by my next day off, I shall do that!

good idea elkat

callmeovercautious · 22/03/2008 14:18

Our local independant shoe shop gives them to a Charity as well.

Great idea Elkat, thats a really good cause and that way the shoes go to a really good home where they will be used and appreciated.

What do you have in a 5.5F? Would pay postage

lovecat · 22/03/2008 15:34

Sorry TT, she was only in an F fitting when she was a size 6.5 (for some reason her foot narrowed as it grew, then splurged back out again!) - all the others are G's.

If you'd like them on the offchance your dd will be a size 6.5F (and not skip a size like mine did once!) you would be more than welcome to them - I have 4 pairs, one is in vgc but the others are a bit battered - 2 x shoes, 1 x trainers and a pair of ankle boots (see herefor a picture and more details.

Thanks for the offer but we already have some 6/6.5 shoes 2nd hand - it's just that she's outgrowing her 5Fs atm and we have no 5.5.

If you don't want to give them to him, don't, tell him they have gone.

3NAB · 22/03/2008 18:24

Recycling banks sometimes have one for shoes and clothes.

nailpolish · 22/03/2008 18:24

MAYBE the poor guy has just been made redundant, he has a newborn baby, a mortgage to pay, mouths to feed, he NEEDS to make some money, he thought he could take the shoes off your hands and sell them on ebay

its not a crime hes committing

dont judge until you know the full story

He may be planning on taking them to some orphans who have no shoes, or have a small child and no money. If you put things on Freecycle, you should give them away.

Phatmouse · 22/03/2008 21:28

he might be hoping his kid grows into them or he may be taking them to the recycling bins unicef have in clarks shops. He could even be going to use them as art or something, why not just ask.

bubblepop · 22/03/2008 21:47

i know what you are thinking..but have you thoght perhaps if he was ebaying them, maybe he is using the funds to give his own kids something that perhaps he wouldnt have the money for otherwise. not everyone has selfish intentions

charliecat · 22/03/2008 23:41

i still think if you have put them on freecycle then give them away dont question it....and the cousin who needed the cot...so they couldnt pick it up themselves? So what, maybe more deserving than relative with transport moaning of dust?
Maybe cousin thought, everyime she put her babe to bed, thank god for the goodness of others? Maybe?

imaginaryfriend · 22/03/2008 23:53

Ah, cc, you always think the best of people.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 23/03/2008 00:16

i gave away a double-buggy to a freecycler - i'm to blardy lazy to even put it on myself and just answered to a "want" - i was so blardy glad it was out of my cupboard as i have too many buggys[i'm a c/m] - but next day she posted a thankyou on freecycle to me AND someone else for buggies i did feel a bit but if you put it on freecycle it's because you wanted it gone so if he wants the lot it'll save you faffing about having loads of strangers round checking out dd's shoes!!
