Asking for anyone that has some knowledge of Paris?

Hi All, I am taking my two daughters to Paris for their birthday, they are 21 and 24. Due to my daughter’s medical condition we need to stay in an air bnb. I have little to no knowledge of Paris and I am looking for recommendations of areas to stay and things to do so we don’t get lost in the tourist trap. I really would appreciate all and any help, as we are all so excited. Thank you.

I would stay at St Germain. It’s where we always go.

Best photos of the Eiffel Tower are from the Trocadero.

On my most recent visit, the most pleasant surprise was the vegetarian restaurant at the top of one of the gallery Lafayette department stores. We had the most incredible view of the Eiffel Tower and the sacre cœur at night and delicious food. We are not vegetarians but had one of the best meals of our stay.

Enjoy! I am gutted that I don’t think I will be able to go to Paris this year.

For an airbnb, I would look at central arrondissements such as Le Marais, the 11th, or the area near Nation. The 13th is quiet but fine. Further out but still on a metro line, Montrouge or Vincennes are both nice areas. I'd personally avoid the areas near Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, La Chapelle, Belleville, Barbes or Porte de Clignancourt. I'd also avoid St Denis. Generally OK ish areas in the day time, just can be dodgy later on.

I would go to a market if you get chance - Bastille is lovely on a Sunday morning. Le Marais and St Germain areas are lovely to walk around. The best thing about Paris imo is wandering around and discovering hidden gems as you go!

100% agree with this 😊 Paris is a lovely city to explore and just stumble upon things.

Sorry to jump on this thread: I haven’t been to Paris for almost a decade but am hoping to take my eldest this summer; would people recommend Canal St Martin? I am a bit worried about proximity to Gare de l’Est.
Also, any big recommendations for teens, I am all ears!

First choice Le Marais, second choice Canal Saint-Martin.

I've been several times and stayed centrally and further out. Both areas have been quiet. Paris is expensive though.

Getting the train from the airport took ages. Since then I've got an Uber.

If you buy some tube tickets they are quite cost effective. There's a fantastic breakfast and lunch place called Holybelly you should try.

For the Eiffel Tower I would recommend buying tickets ahead of going. They are timed but you get ahead of the queue which even in the quieter months is hours long. We went up the Tower, stayed for ages and came back down and the queue had barely moved!

There are lots of lovely restaurants surrounding the tower. Even restaurants just off main streets are reasonable priced.

The Louvre was something I was desperate to see but I was underwhelmed.

Take a look on Vrbo there might be more choice as I actually think it's could be French or maybe I've got that wrong.
Rue Poncelet is a very cute area, not touristy but minutes from the arc de triomphe and the Champa Elysee.
There is a lovely cute market on rue de poncelet ans lots of good neighbourhood restaurants.

Enjoy

I personally wouldnt stay too close to Gare de l'Est although it isn't as bad as it used to be. Around Goncourt/Republique would be fine. As an aside, The place to... opposite Gare de L'Est doe a great buffet brunch on Saturdays.

Can you give us a little more info about the medical condition? Might help us whittle down suggestions. Does she have mobility issues, do you need particular accessibility options or facilities?

For teens, maybe the flea markets? If she likes art, you can go into the artist studios at 59 Rue de Rivoli. That street is good for shopping also.
A boat trip/bateau mouche is always fun.

I lived near Versaiiles 30 years ago. I love Paris but don't remember pick pockets. Barcelona however.....
