Embarrassed in front of Amazon delivery people

Currently sick at home-messy pj bottoms tucked into socks, oversized, old striped jumper, hair scraped back…anyone else hate having to sign for Amazon type packages?! I have to walk to my gate too. Today, young done up woman, sure she was thinking ‘Lazy cow’ 🙈😫

Awww it could be a lot worse, OP. I accepted a delivery a couple of years ago wearing just an old dressing gown. I didn't realise until I walked past a mirror, that the dressing gown had a moth hole and my nipple was cheerily poking through waving hello...!

Flottie · 06/02/2024 16:28

Currently have a 4 week old and that’s me everyday I’ve answered the door looking all sorts of scruffy! Was also me for most of my pregnancy as I had terrible sickness and worked from home in my pjs

That's me everyday.

They don't care.

Exactly what I was going to say!

juanitasolis · 06/02/2024 17:06

im currently sat in my giant blue bed socks, bright red fleece christmas pj bottoms with a nice floral blouse on as im WFH and video call clients. I answer the door constantly. Business up top, party on the bottom!

PeacockHat · 06/02/2024 17:25

I was once chatting with the postman at the door, with my 2 year old daughter pottering about behind me. She came to say "hello" to the postman with a sanitary towel she'd found in my bag stuck to her forehead.

You can set up a safe place on your Amazon profile so that they never have to knock or if they do and you don't answer or are out they will leave in your safe place.

We have a sign on our door as a reminder not to knock.

SweetBirdsong · 06/02/2024 17:30

🙄 No. one. Cares.

Ponderingwindow · 06/02/2024 17:32

I suspect the only thought my Amazon drivers have is why is she getting so many packages. I don’t think they have time to look at the clients.

Brawcolli · 06/02/2024 17:33

I’m a SAHM and I’m heavily pregnant, I wear pyjamas all day if I’m at home because nothing else fits at this point. I’m sure my postie thought I was someone else when I opened the door with ‘outside’ clothes and makeup on the other day!

mumtumok · 06/02/2024 17:55

I’ve answered before in a rush , I layed my baby down from breastfeeding and forgot to put it away…. Most embarrassing moment of my life - I only realised because I felt the breeze 😂

InSpainTheRain · 06/02/2024 18:23

All they care about is delivering the parcel and getting on to the next one. Why worry about what they think anyway?!

CaptainBeesKeeper · 06/02/2024 18:30

ive even been to the local asda dressed normally but with a dressing gown on top for warmth when its cold.

Silverbirchtwo · 06/02/2024 18:31

I did have to give my year of birth the other day and the delivery driver said I don't believe it. I took it in a good way. I'm not young for clarity, must have been a good day!

TerrysNeapolitan · 06/02/2024 19:11

I wouldn't think that of you at all as I used to work nights and would assume you were on nights maybe. It would none of my business anyway but this kind of thing happened when I worked nights for years.

Bobbotgegrinch · 06/02/2024 21:07

Why do you care @Butterflieseverywhere ? Seriously, sit back and think about it for a minute. Even if that person actually looked and you and thought all the things you think she's thinking (which she's not), why does it matter? What material difference to your life does it make? The answer is none. A complete strangers thoughts about your appearance cannot possibly have any effect on your life. So why care?

rainbowsparkle28 · 06/02/2024 21:17

This wouldn't even cross my mind 😂🫣 But maybe I am a mess! Other people are too busy with their own lives I would probably think but also even if they bothered, that's their issue if they clearly have nothing else to be worrying about than someone wearing their pyjamas whilst ill?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lifeetc · 06/02/2024 21:34

I answered the door to the ringtons man with blue face mask on, he took my order and was lovely as ever. It was only when I turned to get my purse to pay I caught sight of my blue face in the hall mirror!

Katemax82 · 06/02/2024 23:37

I was a delivery driver and i didnt care about stuff like that

BobbyBiscuits · 06/02/2024 23:47

Delivery drivers are way too busy with targets to give a crap what the customer is wearing. They just glad you're in. What do they expect, a judges wig and gown, a cocktail dress? They don't wanna see genitals (I imagine?) so if youre at least semi clothed I'd imagine they won't lose sleep over it.

tiredinoratia · 06/02/2024 23:59

It's sounds as though you are projecting what you feel about yourself onto her. I'd be curious to explore why you felt lazy or guilty for taking time out to rest when sick. Sounds like judging yourself harshly due to internalised capitalism (sense of self worth tied up woth productivity) and perhaps some self acceptance and self compassion could be helpful? You are allowed to rest and don't need to be more than you are to be valid.
