To get all rubbish from neighbours side of shared garden and move it out of sight

Hi, i live in a flat (block of four flats, within a two story block, two entrances in front and two on back, front gardens for front entrances) and the two front gardens are for the use of tenants who use the two front entrances. Our entrances are in the middle of the building and the gardens either side. The gardens are fenced off on the perimeter but once we come through our entrance gate they are open plan (paved patio with garden either side) but NOT shared.

I keep our garden spotless, keep it sweeped, no litter laying around and bins kept out of way, but for the past few weeks rubbish has been building up in the neighbours side (cardboard boxes, a bin tipped on its side with contents out, rugs, food containers etc), walking past this every time i enter and leave was really annoying me as it was disgusting to look at and i have a little one so want to use the garden now that days are getting longer etc.

This evening i have been out and moved all their waste round to the side of the property in a neat pile, out of sight. Picked up all litter and binned it.

Have i acted in haste and BU?

@MrsSkylerWhite it is a woman about 30-35, she comes and goes and doesn’t appear to have any physical disabilities from what i can see.

@pd339 no i wouldn’t climb a fence because what your stating is not a comparable situation. I have had to walk within 6 foot of this crap for weeks, how would you feel?

I’d tidy it up too. I live in a private estate with communal gardens and if any rubbish is left lying around then I’m out there clearing it up. I doubt if the neighbours will give a toss as it saves them a job.

Maymoo99 · 03/02/2024 13:51

@gerispringer yes i agree, it is just disgusting how they can just leave rubbish laying around. This is a generally ok area but people like my neighbour bring the area down

I bet any money we're talking about one or two things, and that OP is just a drama-lama.

Why post this when you have no idea at all?

OP I don't know why you are getting a hard time. Some people are just slobs.

The thing is @Maymoo99 the sort of people who leave mess like this won’t even notice that you have cleared it up or care. So it’s highly unlikely they will ‘declare war’ on you. These sorts of people are just shiftless, disgusting twats. I would also have cleaned it up myself and have in fact done similar to you in the past. I also believe trespass is a civil matter not a criminal one? So twat neighbour is hardly likely to pursue you in the courts.

Allofaflutter · 03/02/2024 14:33

They probably think it’s the council that cleared it up

CombatLingerie · 03/02/2024 14:45

Exactly right @Allofaflutter they probably will.

Environmental health might help with the dog poop nightmare.
