Robovacs vs dyson

2 young kids , sensitivity to dust . Laminate floors . A Robovac cleaner or dyson ? Dh wants the dyson. I heard dyson doesn’t last long and loses it suction strength after a few years. I love the idea of a robot doing it all with just press of a button. I don’t even have to be home or getting bothered with dust being stirred up during cleaning. But a robovac requires everything being picked up and put away and doesn’t do corners . Also not sure how well the suction compares to dyson ? Currently we have a corded pull-along , but it’s pretty rubbish and needs replacing asap ! In an ideal world maybe we could have both , as some do, but we have only a budget for one , so please share your thoughts to help settle this 😊

Robovac is perfect for hard floors, less great for carpet. You soon get used to making sure the floor is clear and it results in a tidier house. It's nice coming down to clean floors in the morning. However it can't do stairs or the car so you might still need to keep an upright.

Thank you !! We don’t have any stairs , I’m guessing another vacuum of some sort is still needed for corners right ? And things like skirting boards . How durable is your robovac in terms of not having any technical issues and do you recommend any particular one please ? Also is a robovac good for cleaning up small spots randomly throughout day when needed e.g. when kids make a mess after meal times @Whattobakeiwonder

I only have a cheaper eufy but I love it. Had it about 18 months and no issues with it. It's pretty good at the corners, it has little spinning brushes that protrude which help. No problem cleaning up a mess, just tell it to spot clean and it goes round in increasing circles. I do the skirting boards with a damp cloth.

I have a Roomba and it is amazing on the carpets. Upstairs it is particularly good as he wanders around under the beds and I was honestly ashamed of the amount of dust and fluff that was pulled out.
We previously had a Dyson and it died after only a year. We now have a Henry for the stairs and a big clean - but I just send Roomba round upstairs and down (I carry him and his charging/ emptying station up or down once a day then he does that floor early afternoon and then morning) everyday and its brilliant

@Whattobakeiwonder thank you v much ! Good idea for skirting board and cloth. Is the suction on eufys v strong and do you know if they have a hepa filter or are anti -allergen ? Also, I can see there’s a self-emptying version on Amazon that’s a little bit more expensive - is this feature worth it ?

Do you know if roomba is anti allergen or good for removing microscopic dust ? @CMOTDibbler is roomba another name for robovac or are these two different things ?
