Offering to put dog poo bag in bin

when I walk my dog, I occasionally stop and chat with people with their dogs. Today, I chatted briefly to a woman with her dog and I noticed that her dog had done its business after the poo bin. There isn’t many in my area and that’s where I was heading with mine so I offered to put hers in the bin. She was lovely about it and told my dog she had a lovely Mammy and it made me feel nice but my husband said it’s weird of me to even offer that. He said he would never do that but he never speaks to other walkers just pulls our dog away. I just don’t get it though. I was going to the bin and I knew the woman wouldn’t likely pass another one on her walk. Am I weird?

I asked him if I’m weird. I often do 😂 that is probably the part that means I am weird yeah?

Yes probably 😂😂

Not odd at all, it's helping out a fellow human being, like picking up something someone has dropped and they struggle to do it themselves.

Hysteria30 · 01/02/2024 20:45

I’ve only done it once before today. He said it wouldn’t even enter his head to offer. I wish I could be more like that tbh 😂

I won’t do it again though as like someone said it could make someone uncomfortable so I get that now

I would love you for this. Where i walk my dog theres bins by the car park then not for half an hour or so. What with him mithering for ball throwing, occassionally having to put him back on a lead, treats etc im always running out of hands!

I think that you sound really thoughtful and your DH sounds like a misery!

Hysteria30 · 01/02/2024 20:50

this is exactly why I offer when I know there’s no bins. Sometimes I only pass 1, maybe 2 when I’m out.

Thanks. He is 😂 he just isn’t an animal lover like me. He doesn’t get any joy from walking her.

Ah, well, I'll forgive him then, he's doing well taking the dog out if he doesn't enjoy it.

I think you should carry on offering. Embrace your weirdness because it makes the world a better place.

Hysteria30 · 01/02/2024 20:56

Thank you! You’re right, x

I like dogs but would never own one much respect to all dog owners for picking up poop.
I just couldn`t do it picking up warm poop noooooo.
The only thing that does get a bit on my wick is when dog owners say they are mummys and daddys to their pets.
My aunt does it speaking in a baby voice come to mummy are you going to daddy now (mean while im screaming in my head its a dog).
Sorry rant over.

My mum calls my dog her 'grandog', and I refer to myself as her mum. It takes nothing away from human people with human kids, so TBH I do not understand why it would annoy you so much.
Some vets refer to the owners of their patients as mum and dad too.

The exact thing happened to me this afternoon and I gladly accepted to save me carrying poo the rest of the walk! Very kind ❤️

Atethehalloweenchocs · 01/02/2024 22:32

That is really nice of you. I will sometimes pick up other poos if I have a bag in my hand and am picking up after my dog. And I often take the bags left along the path to the bin if I am on my way there. There is nothing worse than walking past the bin and a few minutes later seeing the little darlings squat. You were being really helpful, and it is lovely. (Mine both pooped right by the bin the other day, I was so excited!).

Hysteria30 · 01/02/2024 22:33

Thank you! It’s a proud moment isn’t it 😂

Sometimes I walk my dog in a forest where there is only a bin at the carpark at the start. I have offered to take full poo bags off people occasionally if I am walking back in that direction and they are walking away from there. It seems to make sense me carrying it 2 minutes instead of them carrying it for an hour or more. It's a nice thing to do.
