Autism assessment

I had a private assessment June 2022 paid £650 for it and they said I wasn't autistic as I didn't have repetitive habits however I've just been diagnosed autistic by the NHS. My question is should I complain to the private provider.

£650 is incredibly low, even for an adult assessment.

You probably won't get far with a complaint, since they'll likely say "Oh, but your answers weren't completely identical".

The criteria under DSM (usually used by private clinics) and ICD (used by the NHS, to my knowledge) are pretty much identical when it comes to repetitive/restricted behaviours, so you might want to compare those sections in the two diagnostic reports.

Yes I thought that

Again as above the price made me think it wasn't a legit assessment provider. I paid £2000 to the Lorna Wing Centre and was diagnosed autistic.

The Lorna Wing Centre will assess both privately and on NHS.

Complain about what, specifically? Do you think they didn't take sufficient time to do the assessment? Do you suspect staff were poorly trained? Did they not have the right tools to assess appropriately?
You can't really complain about not being given a diagnosis or it would sound as though you are entitled to receive a product (diagnosis) on the basis of money exchanging hands. Which is not how diagnostic procedures work.

Well, the question is over the accuracy of the assessment. The assessment process is meant to be the same regardless of who performs it, as long as the tools available are used properly.

Now, the question is whether the private assessors a) were accredited, and b) followed the appropriate best practices accordingly. If not, then there should be sufficient grounds for a complaint.

And that's exactly what I am trying to ascertain. What specifically the OP's grievance beyond not being given a diagnosis.
With conditions that don't have objective tests, some degree of misdiagnosis is unfortunately expected.
