So my daughter who's 8 is a big taylor swift fan... she's local to us this year and when I googled they sell tickets on a few sites however they are 700 odd pound a ticket.
I'm nearly 40 and never myself been to any concert and when I initially looked quickly it said prices start at 60 pound.. I don't know if its my age or I have no idea how it works but it's a concert not having her over to the house for chicken nuggets and chips. Why aren't tickets for sale like regular things like cinema for eg. It's just mad or is it me.

They went on sale months ago and are now sold out. So you're looking at resale tickets.

IamSmarticus · 31/01/2024 22:37

Its just you. £60 is cheap!!

KrisAkabusi · 31/01/2024 22:39

They were. They sold out instantly. Now people are reselling them for prices people are willing to pay.

mitogoshi · 31/01/2024 22:41

I bought mine last summer. They sold out within a couple of hours

Zonder · 31/01/2024 22:42

It's basically economics. Supply and demand. They cost that much because there are more than enough people willing to spend that much. Makes me glad all the concerts I go to are relatively unknown people!

Yup. I'm going to see my favourite band three times in March, including a long weekend with my DH in Liverpool doing bed and breakfast in a hotel for three nights. Tickets and travel for all three gigs, plus the hotel, will come to less than £700. But if people want to pay silly prices just for one night, that's on them. 🤷‍♀️

NewName24 · 31/01/2024 23:27

Have to agree it is basic supply and demand.

The tickets are being resold and some people will be daft enough to pay those prices.

But maybe 8 is a tad young to start going to arena gigs ?

Whatayear2023 · 31/01/2024 23:39

The site I was looking at is the official site for buying tickets... I found it by looking at newspaper article... that's what I'm so confused about is if its an official site then why are prices so high when it should be the actual price. I know about reselling and haven't looked on Facebook gumtree etc as that's where I thought people would re sell tickets... feeling very old and out of touch now

Well we definitely won't be going with those prices anyway... I've gone to theatres cinemas attractions etc so expected 60 to 100 per person but it would be 1200 at least for a few hours

I was able to get a ticket for her additional show at Wembley for about £150. Within 1 hour all tickets had sold except some of the £700 ones. Those tickets were package things with merchandise and other things. It may be those you are seeing.

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 31/01/2024 23:44

Official sites will also sometimes deal with resale tickets, show them up despite being a 3rd party

Resell prices are ridiculous

TKRedLemonade · 31/01/2024 23:45

Her concerts sold out instantly. Literally. Even if it’s the official TM website it’s resale or only the very top tier price life. You needed to enter a raffle to even get access to the sale last year.

ApolloandDaphne · 31/01/2024 23:54

My DD were on it like ninja warriors to get ticket the instant they were released. You are seeing resale tickets which command a high price.

The cheapest tickets would have been £60 but all the ‘normal’ tickets would have been sold within minutes when the concert was announced. The £700 tickets will be the only tickets now left and will be for a whole package deal, like a private box and catering and merchandise and stuff.

If you want tickets for someone like Taylor Swift you’d have to buy them the moment they went on sale.

To be fair there just isn't the same demand for theatres and cinema tickets as a Taylor Swift gig.

IamnotSethRogan · 21/04/2024 07:06

Some artists do try to sort this out. I've seen people before where you can only buy a certain amount of tickets in one go and one of the people in the group has to have ID matching the online order.

Kittenkitty · 21/04/2024 07:10

You probably already know this but the eras concert is on Disney Plus, maybe you could do a party for DD and some friends make swiftly bracelets etc. I bought some cheap sunglasses and made swiftly sunglasses too. And watch the concert at home

SleepingStandingUp · 21/04/2024 07:45

Op last tour the cinemas showed the tours onscreen, so probably about £15-20 a ticket. At your daughter's age, seeing TayTay on a huge cinema screen with a load of other fans will be pretty exciting.

distinctpossibility · 21/04/2024 07:50

@Whatayear2023 We have been to see Taylormania who is a tribute act, she's very good and my 8 year old was happy with that. We are going again in summer. Around £25 a ticket.
