Just interested? Who would be perfectly happy if their OH got one of these on the 14th? 😂 #WorkWifeValentine?

YABU - perfectly fine, nothing to see here
YANBU - wtf?! You’d be having words…

Wow. Fucking hell!

Walkingwithdinosaurs · 31/01/2024 10:51

It’s a no from me but maybe they’re aimed at singles who want more. If my DH received that I’d be watching carefully and then having words for sure!

Overtheatlantic · 31/01/2024 10:51

What a stupid idea. It wouldn’t upset me though.

takealettermsjones · 31/01/2024 10:52

Weird asf 😂

Freakinfraser · 31/01/2024 10:53

Wouldn’t bother me at all, but I do trust my husband, and don’t suffer jealousy or insecurity really, anyone where something dodge is going on, wouldn’t send that,

but I would think it cringe and embarrassing.

RoseBucket · 31/01/2024 10:54

A colleague at work calls me his work wife, mainly because we spend so much time together but I wouldn’t buy one of those 🤣

WishesPromises · 31/01/2024 10:54

Totally inappropriate - both the term and the card.

Balloonhearts · 31/01/2024 10:55

It's strikes me as just a joke tbh. My old manager at work was jokingly called my work husband. We were close friends but not interested in each other romantically at all. Actually the thought kind of gives me the ick.

Nofilteritwonthelp · 31/01/2024 10:55

I quite like it and have had many work husbands 🙃

Tagyoureit · 31/01/2024 10:56

My old boss used to joke I was his work wife, it was all light hearted banter and nothing going on but even I'd find this weird, i would never have sent this to him!

And I would find it weird if my husband received this from someone at work!

Babadook76 · 31/01/2024 10:56

Funny if they’re both single. Unbelievably disrespectful if either of them have partners. I trust my oh 100%, but if cause absolute murder if a woman at work thought that was appropriate to give him

MinervatheGreat · 31/01/2024 10:57

If you feel that upset …

Rip it up, stuff it back into an envelope and send it back.

Ooops, sorry, I misread your post. I thought your chap had recd one of those cards. Nevertheless, my advice is the same. 🙄

2024theplot · 31/01/2024 10:58

It wouldn't bother me but I trust my partner completely.
I do think it seems cringey and I wouldn't send or want to receive a card like this.

Sinkapace · 31/01/2024 10:59

I think the term is repellently twee, and kind of stupid in that it seems to suggest that any opposite-sex person you’re fond of and/or work closely with at work has to fit into some kind of joke heterosexual marriage template, rather than just being a friend or close colleague or whatever in the same way someone of the same sex would be.

TackyTimes · 31/01/2024 10:59

I used to have a 'work husband ". He was old enough to be my dad. I'd nag him about eating too many biscuits and we'd make each other tea.

I'd find it hilarious to receive this, but that was our humour.
Would I tell my DH? Maybe, if he was in the right mood. All down to individual relationships.

Yes, it's just an expression that people often use to describe somebody they spend a great deal of time alongside and nothing wrong with it in itself; but why would you be sending that person ANY Valentine's card at all?

Probably not so odd to make reference to it in a birthday or Christmas card, but what adult even sends Valentine's cards to people they are not in love with, or at least fancy?

Universalsnail · 31/01/2024 11:01

I hate the term work husband / wife.

I wouldn't be ok with this tbh. I think it's cringe and is pushing boundaries

floralrainbows · 31/01/2024 11:02

I had a work husband years ago. He was gay.

Something like this wouldn't bother me

WandaWonder · 31/01/2024 11:02

It an old cloche so they would lose points for originality but if I am meant to be against it because 'omg they are having an affair' yeah nah

Yes, actually - good point. If both are single and there may be an attraction and a potential frisson of something more, then I suppose it's a bit of a flirty way to test the water and see if your ardour is requited.

Certainly bang out of order to send it to a married/attached person (or if you're married/attached yourself).

MonsteraMama · 31/01/2024 11:04

I wouldn't mind but that's because my husband's work wife is a 42 year old man called Miles. They've had the running joke that Miles is the wife and I'm the mistress for years, so this would just be funny.

In general though this is super weird and trashy.

But why was he your ‘work husband’? Why not just a colleague you were particular friends with/worked closely with?

Yeah that’s what i thought.
