To ask a quick question about divorce forms terminology?

When couples are applying for a divorce and are working out how to split their assets, they’ll need to fill out a few forms (e.g. Form A and Form C).

I’ve seen terminology around this, like ‘filing’ Form A and ‘issuing’ Form A.

My understanding is that ‘filing’ the form is the stage when the couple completes the form and sends it to the court. Then the ‘issuing’ of the form is when the court receives the form and processes it.

Can I just check if this is correct? I’m finding the terminology a bit unclear and confusing. Thanks!

Yes if you file a document it means you have sent it to the Court.

The Court will then issue an application - usually has a Court seal on.

Form Es are used for finances.
