To use Wegovy to lose 4kg?

Perimenopause is fucking me up. I know it’s ‘only’ 4kg but it won’t bloody come off, since I started oestrogen. It’s making me unhappy and I feel it’s only going to get worse.

Am I ridiculous to take Wegovy? I just want to be me again.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous at all, once it’s done through a doctor and not the fake injections causing chaos that people are buying. Best chat with a gp to make sure you are both suitable and aware of potential side effects. I am currently weighing up (no pun intended) going on them but am veering towards not purely because I don’t want to deal with any side effects. But if I can’t shift the weight myself I will review my decision given many have had great success with it!

My mum was using this for similar reasons and lost weight from her face while her body remained the same, she was also very sick on it. 4kg isn't that much to lose with diet and exercise. Have you tried, counting calories, lifting weights, cutting out alcohol, meat or whatever? Also when you stop you could just regain all the weight back, I don't think its worth it for 4kg sorry.

I don't think it's ridiculous but there's one thing I'd caution about - weight loss through something like wegovy doesn't necessarily mean fat loss. You're just as likely to lose muscle as well. And while that may still leave you happy with the scale number temporarily, that can mean putting it back on - one of the reasons why we tend to gain weight over 40 especially is because we lose muscle year on year. The less muscle we have, the less calories we need to get through the day, hence we gain weight when we're eating what is our 'normal'.
If you're still keen to do it I'd really recommend following up with some strength training (eg with weights or bodyweight exercise) to try and improve the amount of muscle you have! It doesn't have to be the kind of stuff you see the influencers doing, there's loads of variety and levels but it all helps (and benefits bone density which is another big health reason as we age)
