To ask what this rash is on my 3yo

I was told it was dry skin, I moisturise her every day and use e45, aveeno etc.

She then had impetigo on her face which has cleared up with antibiotics but the rash on her legs is getting worse - it’s probably twice as bad since I took this pic a couple of days ago.

Its clearly not A&E or urgent care worthy as she’s had it for a while now but I don’t want to go back to the docs and be told it’s dry skin yet again.

just looking for ideas of what it could be or anyone whose child has had similar?

If its even worse now she needs to see a doctor, poor mite, either gp or paeds and dermatology.

I know! Plan to get her to the doctors tomorrow. It’s not itchy and doesn’t bother her at all.. so strange

Could it be psoriasis?

TraitorsGate · 29/01/2024 19:41

If it were me I would push for dermatology and probably stop putting cream on it for now, hope you get some answers tomorrow, don't be fobbed off.

That is either eczema or psoriasis. Typical rash, typical presenting in creases of folds etc,. They will likely continue to give you emollient cream anyway and there is a good chance they will grown out of it but keep questioning the doctor. Do they have any food intolerances? Can sometimes be wheat/ gluten related but not always.

DD used to get eczema that looked a lot like that. She has Dermol 500 instead of e45 but that's preventative, to get rid of it once it was red like that she needed hydrocortisone (I think), which needed a prescription.

Basically you need to speak to the GP again, sorry.

Duckswaddle · 29/01/2024 20:02

My son gets that on the backs of his knees, always just assumed eczema. Aveeno soon sorts it out.

Littlemisscapable · 29/01/2024 20:07

Bethamethazone Valerate cream we got from the GP for a similar rash on my 5 year old ds. It is eczema.... nothing else worked especially aveeno/child's farm etc.they made it a lot worse. This stuff was absolutely miraculous. Used a small amount for under a week..... all rash gone. Now just keep area moisturised and use this sparingly if needed.

If she's itchy give her piriton

Ireolu · 29/01/2024 20:09

Flexural eczema.

Poppercorn · 29/01/2024 20:22

If you can't get a GP appointment maybe see pharmacist and ask if it looks fungal?

If you try eczema creams some may make it worse - allergies - so try another.

Aqueous cream is pretty good, was the only thing my DC could use for a bit.

Poppercorn · 29/01/2024 20:23

And second the Piriton recommendation.

Looks like infected spots?
