I’ve been consistently tachycardic since 2019, heart beat at least 110 when resting. For so long it’s been fobbed off and never looked into by GPs as ‘my normal’ even though it hasn’t always been, it literally randomly started and hasn’t gone away since.
About 8 months ago I was at a GP appointment for something unrelated and she questioned me about my heart rate and said she was going to refer me to cardiology and seemed baffled that nobody had done so before.
I had an ultrasound at the end of December & was told it’d be at least 10 weeks until I hear anything, but I’ve received a letter today to ask me to go in for a 24 hour heart monitor to be fitted and to speak to a cardiology consultant on Feb 13th.
During my ultrasound and ECG the person doing it kept asking me questions throughout such as whether I get breathless or get tired all the time, which I do. I kept asking what he saw but he said he couldn’t discuss it with me.
Given I wasn’t kept in on the day of the ultrasound and the monitor is 2 weeks away, I know it’s not immediately life-threatening, but I am feeling a bit anxious that I’ve heard back within 4 and had a consultant appointment organised for 2 weeks, when apparently cardiology currently has super long wait times.
There’s not a huge history of heart problems in my family, but my grandpa does have problems with his heart.
AIBU to be worried about this?
