Calling Crunchy mums!

I initially wanted advice for a natural, plastic free, eco friendly shampoo for my dd who is nearly 2.

But while you’re here! What crunchy things do you do and why? What would you like to do?

Id love to be more crunchy but I’m a bit lazy. I couldn’t do sourdough, it seems to take so much care!

And if you’re not crunchy, disagree or whatever that ok but hope we can keep it a nice thread!

A few other brands to look at for shampoo bars are Friendly Soap (made in Yorkshire), The Good Soap company ( made in Wales) and The Natural Spa (made in Exeter) these companies produce cold process soap and soap based shampoo bars at a very reasonable price (cheaper than Ethique) If you live in a very hard water area you may not find the soap based bars work as well for you.

I really like the natural spa and friendly soap hair conditioner bars too.

So I make bread, gave birth at home, home educate, dislike shoes and bras, read books for entertainment, make my own herbal medicines.

I am also very interested in science, we vaccinate.

According to that wiki, I'm a bitch and a modern day Karen?

Sure. Happy to be perceived that way if it keeps the muggles away from me.

My mum was about as crunchy as they come when I was growing up. We were surrounded by the healing power of crystals. We co-slept until I was really quite old. Also she threw away our TV because of mind control, I kid you not. Every remedy was herbal until we got too ill to be ignored and then she'd accept antibiotics in despair.

But she was as un-"Karen"-like as they come, she'd never dream of complaining about anything to anyone, far too people-pleasing. [I hate that word anyway].

So yeah, that second definition is nonsense. Crunchy mums aren't bitchier than other mums at all

You could just use easy yeast, available in all supermarkets you just add to your flour, tsp salt, drop of olive oil and water to mix. Works every time and use for pizza bases as well as making bread.
To answer someone else jam is really easy to make and no special tools required other than a large pan, simply fruit sugar and water. Bring to boil for about 15 min (keep checking if setting pointby old fashioned method of putting a blob on a cold saucer, I stick in freezer for a minute as I'm impatient, if it wrinkles as you draw your little finger across it then it is ready as that shows it will set).
I'm an old part crunchy........😜 bake, cook from scratch, knit, use as much natural stuff as possible and gave birth to one of mine at home......never heard that term before though 🤔

@Futb0l its quite tricky and laborious to make your own soy sauce. I only know because when my DC was 3 he was obsessed with a YouTube video where they explain in Japanese and show how to make it 🤣it’s quite therapeutic to watch that video

One thing I sometimes do that I think is pretty crunchy is use breastmilk as skincare for my dc. Like, if it's soaked up with a muslin, dab it on the baby's dry cheeks. Waste not, want not.

I weave my own yoghurt

On an organic, sustainably produced loom hand-carved by a local artisan, using only the purest and ethically sourced vegan ingredients I hope!
