Prostate and nodule

My husband had a routine blood test to check his prostate, psa levels were 1.8 (he’s 69). The doctor examined him and found what he thought was a nodule, referred to a consultant within the 2 week rule, was seen within 4 days and they agreed with the doctor re finding a nodule, was told a scan within 3-4 weeks, scan appointment has come through within 4 days. Now I’m scared it’s something untoward or whether they are just super efficient and have had cancellations etc so we have been lucky.

From googling it seems the psa level is not high which usually could infer cancer but I’m really concerned about the nodule…I know no one can tell me what’s going on but has anyone been in a similar situation please?

Thank you.

My DH is 70. He went to the doctor about problems with weeing and they checked his PSA level, which was a bit elevated. He had it checked again a couple of months later and it had gone up further, so he has (so far) had an MRI which shows a mass in the prostate, a hospital appointment which involved a digital examination and where he was told about the MRI results, and a biopsy last week. We should find out the results of his biopsy in a couple of weeks.
We are, of course, very worried.

I hope everything goes well for you and your DH.

A PSA of 1.8 is quite reassuring. A nodule will need an MRi most likely but the 2ww is very efficient

Watching with interest , my DH has the same and had a biopsy on Thursday .

The nodule could be as a result of a previous prostatitis or a prostate stone. Not all nodules are cancerous.
Having said that, men can have a normal PSA and still have prostate cancer, that is why the DRE is so important.
Thinking of you and your partner OP💐
