I always feel like I should be out and about making the most of not being at work but this weekend I feel knackered want to have a quiet weekend but I feel guilty! If you were do have a chilled weekend what would you be doing?!

I used to feel guilty and like I’d ‘wasted’ the weekend, but this year I’ve been forced to slow down in the run up to a medical procedure in February and it’s not been bad at all! Reading, walks in nature listening to podcasts, watching films in bed, cooking meals from scratch as I’m not rushing around and eating ‘on the go’, time to reflect. No guilt so far 🙂

Er, no.... that's what weekends are for! Just lie on the sofa and read a book - perfect.

Don’t feel guilty. I take a sneaky week day off occasionally just to get the house to myself!

I don't ever have a completely chilled weekend but I don't feel guilty making time to relax/enjoy my hobbies/rest, why should I (or anyone)?

MrsKeats · 27/01/2024 11:35

Guilt is a waste of emotion.
Enjoy the weekend!

A chilled weekend IS making the most of being off work.

Never see the point of being "out and about" for the sake of it. Love to go out and about for a specific thing but if there isn't one there's no reason to feel guilty.

I'm in bed. This is my third stint. Got up fairly early (courtesy of a very bouncy and enthusiastic Ddog who came to tell me she'd been out for a walk), had a cup of tea, back to bed. Up again for coffee and a muffin when DH came back from the gym, back to bed. Got up again to put some washing on and make more tea...now back in bed. To be fair I'm not feeling very well and I cleaned like a demon all day yesterday so the house is clean. But I feel zero guilt.

I'm just at the end of a bout of gastro so can't work this weekend. Got to run one of the kids around but then I'll be chilling playing Powerwash Simulator.

Not sure when I last a truly lazy weekend tbh

Oblomov23 · 27/01/2024 13:09

No. I often do very little. Pottering around, I keep the house clean, empty bins, put on a load of washing, make a lasagne, sit and mn. Isn't that enough? When you say doing nothing, I bet quite a lot gets done.

SwordToFlamethrower · 27/01/2024 14:56

Nope. Currently sat in my pyjamas and eating crisp sandwiches.

Toddler is playing on the carpet.

Westernesse · 27/01/2024 14:59

I don’t understand it. Why would you feel “guilty” for spending your free time as you choose?

what is this?

No guilt for me.
I'm an introvert and love being at home relaxing. I work hard and am a single parent to my 3. I do precisely nothing when they go to their dad's every second weekend.
My childhood was one where we had to be out playing rain or shine, or going on walks and doing stuff. No thanks. Home is my happy place.

Same here! Maybe this is why I love being at home so much! I wasn’t even allowed to come in to use the loo 😟
