To say "eat it or be hungry"

My 11 year old son is incredibly fussy eater. His younger sibling eats anything. Both treated the same with food growing up.

I'm at my wits end. All he eats is about 3 different meals, I'm so fed up of cooking multiple meals each night.

Aibu to say eat it or lump
It, knowing full well he will indeed lump it.

He eats a good range. Teach him to defrost and cook his own ready portioned meals, let him have access to other foods but don’t add pressure.

If you create a battle of wills chances are you won’t win it!

Kids all go through a fussy phase IMO, usually starts as a toddler/pre schooler. My eldest is almost 14 and very good now, he will try most things but he will refuse to eat certain things, which is fine as the list he won't eat is actually very small.

My youngest is (9) is getting better, and will try new things abit more now (no sensory issues) he's just a typical kid who knows what he likes and needs persuasion to try other things lol. I'm hoping when he gets older he will get better like his older brother, which I think he will.

I can't stand fussy adults, it's so immature and weird

Serve the meal and if he won't eat it tell him to have toast or go to bed hungry because unless he really has a disorder going to bed hungry once won't do him any harm.

A child recently died from ARFID. Back in the day it would have been failure to thrive or something.

Exactly.

I don't eat what I don't like so I don't expect my children to. Both were quite fussy when they were younger but now as teens they eat pretty much what we do, it just evolved over time.

Beige food is literally a life saver for food sensory issues. We know that the taste and texture will be the same each time, so it's safe food.

I didn't like the comment above about fussy adults being immature and weird. Food issues are generally not an active choice, love. Do some reading up before churning out ablist comments such as that.

Love

Immature and weird adult who has huge food sensory issues due to autism and ADHD.
