Can't afford swimming lessons anymore

But feel like it's really important my son learns how to swim. Can I teach him myself by taking him a couple of times a week? I'm not an amazing swimmer but cab swim. He's 5 and I'm always so nervous that he can't swim. Feel like it's something he should be doing but I just can't afford it. Has anyone had any success doing it themselves?

My younger son achieved his 25m aged 8.

I reckon it cost us £50 a meter. 😂 private 1:1 lessons.

We were going on holiday that involved pools, so we needed to drown-proof him.

What nailed it was a villa with a pool in Mallorca aged 9. He and his older brother by 2 years spent forever in that warm sunny pool (with one of us always in attendance). He'll never swim 100m competitively, but he can swim.

It is often going on a water-based holiday that does this.

Aside. They were Australian born. They were in baby-swim at 6 months. We had friends whose kids could swim the length of all of ours' 9m backyard pools underwater, aged 2.5/3.

Not my boys! 😂
