To think it's unlikely I'm pregnant?

carmone · 25/01/2024 19:26

If I had my first day of period on 1st January then had sex 3 times (pulled out all three times) on 12/13th of January, is it unlikely I'm pregnant? I haven't been feeling amazing and my boyfriend is freaking out I'm pregnant. Period not due until the 29th January.

Im a withdrawal parent to a lovely dd1 👋🏻 it happens 🤣🤣🤣

Allinadayswork80 · 25/01/2024 22:01

I’m genuinely shocked that people in this day and age still think that “pulling out” is a ‘method’ of contraception. Yes you could be pregnant, go buy a test, take the test and sensibly deal with whatever the consequences - if not pregnant then use protection!

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 25/01/2024 22:02

You really shouldn't be having sex if you're that naive.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 25/01/2024 22:06

If I were trying for a baby and had used your timings then I'd be very pleased with myself. Just saying.

LouLou198 · 25/01/2024 22:08

I would say highly likely you are with those timings.

WithACatLikeTread · 25/01/2024 22:11

You have timed that perfectly for conceiving.

WithACatLikeTread · 25/01/2024 22:13

Been a while since I used one but condoms are cheap.

willywallaby · 25/01/2024 22:13

No it isn't likely! Yes it's definitely possible but it isn't likely. People are really overreacting here acting like withdrawal does nothing. Even if he DIDN'T pull out, the chance of getting pregnant in a single cycle when you're actively trying is only 20%. Then add in that withdrawal is about 80% effective. No it is not likely.

MoreDollies · 25/01/2024 22:13

If you genuinely don't want to get pregnant then you should always take precautions. No method of contraception is reliably 100% but withdrawal is one of the most unreliable. Unless you have tracked when you ovulate, you have basically had unprotected sex in the middle of the cycle, and any swimmers that may be in any pre-ejaculate, can survive in there for several days which could coincide with your ovulation.

Of course, we are still talking in uncertainties, but if you aren't this month and you don't want to be, then for heaven's sake make wiser decisions next time. Your boyfriend's reaction to the possibility should tell you that he really needs to be wrapping it up.

Harrietsaunt · 25/01/2024 19:33

This reminds me of that old joke - "What do you call people who use the withdrawal method?"
"Parents."

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/01/2024 22:46

Yes you could be
It seems you had sex right in the middle of your cycle

OhRightyThen · 25/01/2024 22:48

Yep absolutely could be. Epic timing it you want a baby, stupid method of contraception if not

Ohlordylordlordy · 25/01/2024 22:50

Buy a test !

Snowdogsmitten · 25/01/2024 22:51

He should have used actual contraception then rather than get his beans and freak out later.

How can peoplebe this uneducated? Seriously , we are taught it all the way through high school 🤷🏼‍♀️.

If I penis going into your vagina, there is ALWAYS a chance of pregnancy. Even with a vasectomy or condom or pill. It's still a risk. But sticking a penis in there. When it's fully loaded AND in your fertile window THREE times and honestly it will be a bloody miracle if you are not pregnant. Even if he pulled up. Pre-cum still contains millions and millions of sperm.

If only!! 6months into TTC and if not getting pregnant when doing all of that is a miracle then I’m 6 miracles in!

WaltzingWaters · 25/01/2024 23:01

Not necessarily likely, but very possible.
if you and your bf don’t want to get pregnant, use actual contraception. Even then it’s still possible.

One of my children is from the withdrawal method. Take a test. However usually symptoms of pregnancy don’t start until 6w.

I never got any symptoms with any of my pregnancies but with ds2 my boobs went massive from the week before my period would have due. But yes op i would take a test

HAPPILYMARRIEDSINCE2012 · 25/01/2024 23:59

@Roadtripwithkids999 it's seems to work for them so well 🤣😂🤣

LorlieS · 26/01/2024 00:03

I got pregnant at 43, two months after hubby had had a vasectomy and whilst still taking the mini pill 100% correctly.
So I would say you could quite possibly be!!

PrudeyTwoShoes · 26/01/2024 07:34

@carmone, now you've had time to process it, have you taken a test? Wishing you the outcome you're hoping for.

Crunchymum · 25/01/2024 19:49

You've just had unprotected sex smack, bang in your ovulation window.

I used solely withdrawal method for 8 years (daily sex in early 20s), 6 months solely rhythm method (withdrawing during fertile window which I tracked using calender method so not accurate), actively ttc for 5 months. No pregnancy ever.

If this is unprotected sex can I go to the NHS and say that I have been having unprotected sex for 9 years and so this is infertility. When I last asked this the hive mind of mumsnet said that withdrawal or rhythm method wasn't trying and I need to do a year of active ttc

In response to op question withdrawal did work for me including during fertile window!

I started using the withdrawal method at 22 and used it all the way up to age 30. Dh is only two years older than me. Including daily sex in the early years so would be in fertile window all the time. Then rhythm method from last Jan to last August.. Active ttc since last August.

Nothing... 😭

All 3 of my friends children are from "pump and spray" method. All 3. You'd think she'd have realised after at least the first 2.

BackPainMisery · 26/01/2024 13:01

Pump and spray? That term is vulgar
