Parking on hatch markings if not leaving car

Car park by DC school is always full and it contains the delivery access to a shop. There are two sections of yellow hatch markings which are there to allow the turning circle of the delivery lorries. Parking in these hatch markings does not affect the use of the car park by cars.

my DC walks to the car park so I park on the hatch markings if the car park is full as I’m not leaving the car so if the lorry comes I can move out of its way. The layout means I would see the lorry coming and could move before it got to me.

i’ve just been ‘told off’ by another parent for parking there. I absolutely would not park and leave the car so I can’t really see the problem (the parents who do park and leave on the hatches and in the disabled spaces are another matter)

so AIBU to sit in my car on hatch markings when it doesn’t effect other cars’ use and I can move straight away if needed?

Get there earlier to get space or park else where.

What age is your dc? If they are old/big enough to walk safely through a busy school carpark unsupervised are they old enough to walk to a parking/meeting space you can park and walk to outside school?

What would your/your dc do it you were not in your usual spot because it wasn't available? That's what you need to do every day.

Nah. It's not optional. You don't stop on hatched markings. If you can't follow the rules don't drive.

Typical school run parent who thinks that the rules don't apply to them...

Like the ones who park on the pavement on a junction, throwing the door open with no regard for any pedestrians or stop to let their kids out on the zigzags so their little darlings don't have to walk a few extra metres-"it was only a few seconds" a few seconds where another child can't cross safely as visibility is reduced but of course their convenience is much more important than another child's safety- selfish twats...

As others have said you need to find somewhere else to park legally.

"Parking in an area marked by hatched bay markings is not allowed and can result in a parking ticket or even the towing of the vehicle ."

The reason you can't see the problem is because you ARE the problem.

You are being unreasonable.

I live near a school and the amount of cars parked on yellow zig zags is a real problem. They totally block sight lines.

Also leaving their car engines running while they wait. When it's cold you can see all the fumes pumping out - grrr!

Selfish gits.
