To pack this for Mallorca in February?

Off to Mallorca/Majorca (Palma City) in Feb half term. From what I’ve googled the weather will be chilly in the evenings but could be anywhere between 8-16 degrees during the day. Would it be unreasonable to think most days I could wear your typical ‘influencer mum uniform‘ of dress with denim/leather jacket and trainers and not be too cold? Could kids get away with shorts/T-shirts and a hoodie? Thoughts/experiences please.

you could but you’ll probably be cold. I’d pack some jeans and wear a medium heat coat on the flight out, then at least you’ll have something a little warmer should you need it. It can be hit and miss, because it’s an island too, expect clouds and rain.

Personally I would be too cold at those temperatures in the outfit/look you have suggested. If you want to go for that kind of look, I think you need to consider adding other layers - a good long sleeve knit, a scarf or wrap, even gloves/wrist warmers and definitely a proper coat for evening. I live on an island (not Mallorca Wink) And despite being in southern Europe, late winter/early spring can feel bitterly cold in the evenings with the wind whipping off the sea. Wear what you would usually wear at home in the same temps.

I went February half term last year and it was 20c during the day, but needed a hoody in the evening.

A friend went 2 weeks later and had 2" snow!

This year I'm packing short sleeves and cardigans. Tracksuit trousers, tshirts and hoodies for my sons. I'll have a pashmina scarf too as I'll travel with that.

Thank you. I’m not really bothered about a particular look, I just find a dress and jacket easy to fling on for the sort of weather we have in the UK in spring/early autumn. I wondered if it was the right sort of thing temperature-wise.

Definitely not shorts.

I would be too cold in the outfits you describe.

Thanks this is helpful! So basically pack for both winter and summer (the same as if going somewhere in the UK in August 😖)

Layers!! Pack layers! 😁😁

New2024 · 24/01/2024 18:08

I think you need to pack with that range of temperatures in mind. 8 is different from 16. It’s 10 here today with a breeze and quite cold.

16 is 2 degrees colder than some summer weather we get in coastal uk places. Jeans and sweatshirts often travel with us to Devon and Cornwall

fedupwithbeinghot · 24/01/2024 18:11

I'd be cold with just that. Besides it's an island and the cold with high humidity gets into your bones!

seathewayahead · 24/01/2024 18:15

I went to another island in late March and found it to be quite chilly and the wind cold. I ended up wearing the fleece jacket I brought for the plane over everything. In feb I’d bring layers like for the UK and hope I wouldn’t need them all!

Ihaterhymingrabbit · 24/01/2024 18:20

YABU to use the term influencer mum uniform 🤮

DJSteves · 24/01/2024 18:25

I'd be packing a couple of sweatshirts and down gilet. They've got me through many a out of season trip.

Believe me I’m not a fan of mum influencers! I don’t aspire to be like them or dress like them either, just the easiest description for it as I happen to find the dress/jacket/trainers thing easy and convenient. Not really too bothered about whether it looks like a cliche.

The locals will be in calf length down coats, hats and scarves!

Not sure I'd wear a dress unless it was a warm fabric teamed with opaque tights and a thermal vest underneath TBH!

I go to Spain a lot in Winter and found dresses did not work for me at that time of year, in Summer yes of course, but not in Winter/early Spring.

Jeans, leggings, chino type of things with trainers during the day, and short sleeve T shirt with jumper or zipped fleece so if it is warm, peel it off. Night time is definitely warm clothes weather.

I recommend a light padded jacket for night time, and a light scarf too. You'd be surprised how cold it gets after a warmish day at that time.

Have a great break.

Sallysoup · 24/01/2024 18:58

I went to the Canaries in December, it was bikini/shorts weather every day, some days were HOT, evenings felt cold even though it was 12-15°. I went to Stradivarius and bought leather leggings, jumpers and a bomber jacket for evenings. People were wearing everything from shorts and t-shirts to full on coats, scarves, gloves at night, so it really depends how much you feel the cold.

Lovelynames123 · 24/01/2024 19:01

I've been to Lanzarote in Feb half term, I took a down Rab jacket with me and wore it every evening, and the Canaries is definitely warmer than the Balearics in Feb! You might hit lucky and get some warmer weather but I'd be prepared for it to be cooler too

Nevermind31 · 24/01/2024 19:37

I think Balearics in Feb are cold, not really spring or summer yet.
i would pack a couple of pairs of shorts, but otherwise long trousers and jumpers.
are you planning on going swimming? In which case I would take wet suits for the kids, and dressing gowns…but only if there is a heated pool.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 24/01/2024 19:40

We went at the end of December. I'd say it was generally more jeans and a jumper than shorts and tshirt weather. We did hike in shorts and tshirt on warmer days but you needed more layers when you stopped moving.

Maddy70 · 24/01/2024 19:44

I think you'll be too cold. Wear layers. While in the sun, it can get warm but as soon as you turn a corner in the shade it feels really cold. You need jeans. Jumpers and a warm coat for evenings

MadKittenWoman · 24/01/2024 20:03

It's winter and it's the Balearics, not the Canaries. It'll be cold.

Anon0707 · 24/01/2024 20:08

Think uk autumn type clothes and you should be fine xx

RampantIvy · 24/01/2024 20:15

I would be in jeans, jumpers, socks and trainers at those temperatures, plus a parka.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/01/2024 07:21

Majorca in Feb is like Brighton in October. Take what you’d wear in Brighton.

ManchesterBea · 25/01/2024 07:23

What fresh hell is an influencer Mum uniform?

olympicsrock · 25/01/2024 07:27

Sounds fine to me. I usually wear similar in Spain in Feb. I do take a lightweight coat. Layers are good
