To ask for a second option and a blood test for my Son

My son is 12. Has been unwell since Mid December. All the usual virus symptoms. Recovers for a couple of days and it starts again. Has all the classic symptoms but has all the way through had what I think is a viral rash on and off. Had antibiotics for a chest infection and had an allergic reaction. GP said no more antibiotics after reaction and to let his body fight it. He is deathly white, chesty again and the rash has reappeared. He only had antibiotics for 3 days over this 6 week period of illness so his body has been continually fighting it. He has lost weight and is very fatigued. I am giving him vitamins and he eats a good balanced diet but his appetite has I would say halved and sometimes less. He is no better he is in fact worse than 15th December. He hates being off school (he’s had a total of three days off) and is quite sporty so doesn’t like missing that either. AIBU to ask for a second opinion and a blood test? For context he is my youngest child so am not an inexperienced parent and I work in education so I do not over panic about childhood illnesses. GP makes me feel like I a pest!

Just remembered he had a Bell’s palsy last year which they think occurred after a virus. He had not been unwell apart from maybe a little sniffle.

I think you are justified in asking.
when the DTs were young we had a fab GP; she would say ‘You know your child. If mum is concerned, I’m concerned.’
Nothing to lose by requesting. Could you see someone privately if no dice?

Thanks @Pottedpalm I am just concerned about his immune system.

Had similar here but from early October to late December. A switched on GP Physician Associate spotted the issue with a bad throat which cropped up each time an illness came on, despite seeming to recover in between. DC tested positive for strep A and was treated with penicillin, which cleared up the infection finally. However, was still looking ill for a month after (deathly pale and had noticeably lost weight) and I pushed for blood tests as a result. They came back clear but it took the Christmas holidays to recover and for DC to look normal again.
