Another baby shower?

Hello
I just want to see if I'm being unreasonable or not.
We have recently found out that my sister in law is pregnant. This is her third baby very early on.
However am I being unreasonable to think no one needs a third baby shower?
The previous two have been over the top events that are so OTT it was painful. My mother in law is so involved and dramatic that everything has to be a big deal that is posted all over social media with so much drama. I try to stay away from it all. It's very fake with everyone falling out behind the scenes but then a huge baby shower posted all over Facebook about how amazing and close the family is.
If I don't go my mother in law will create a huge fuss. She can be a very angry women.
I don't think it helps that I'm pregnant myself so my hormones and patience is really low. Am I being unreasonable to just want to sit this one out? I don't want to be around it.

A baby shower, traditionally, is a rite of passage celebration for the woman marking her transition into motherhood, and the gifts she would be showered with would be the small, useful things that she would have had no need for before maternity.

So a bit naff to have them for subsequent pregnancies. But if her friends want to keep showering her, then it typically becomes a sprinkle (even smaller gifts than "shower-type ones).

The type of party is entirely up to the hosts - and of course a party to celebrate a subsequent pregnancy doesn't have to be a shower at all (shower is a specific activity party, not a term for any party ahead off childbirth - or marriage, as bridal shower is the other main type)

I love a baby shower, have organised a few for friends and family. But never for a 3rd, only a very modest handful of friends over for dinner and cake for someone’s second. They’re taking the piss really.

Just don't go. But they are not being unreasonable for having a baby shower for their baby that's totally up to them.

I'm of the opinion that one baby shower is too many, but, I also accept that we all get our jollies in different ways. I tend to do the whole "I'm booked up that afternoon, sadly, but would love to pop in for a quick hello and a drink on my way to my appointment".

Take a book as a gift, have a glass of fizz then make your quick exit.

Just don't go. I'd use pregnancy as an excuse. Too tired. Not feeling well etc.
But its not unreasonable to have a baby shower for a 3rd. Everyone is different and I think it is nice to celebrate each baby in whatever way a family wants too. For some that will be an over the top party but others small tea and cake etc. I wish I had done something to mark my third after the issues it took to get there!

I had a proper baby shower for my first.

For my second, I went to afternoon tea with two close friends.

Don't go, say you are ill the day before.

Yanbu, I hate them and find the over the top ones cringe, would be my idea of hell having one, I’d just say you’re too tired on the day
