My whole personality has changed, what is wrong with me?

I’ve always been a bit of an overthinker but generally a confident person who has just got on with things.

Last few months I barely feel like I’m functioning. I have a mini breakdown at least once a day. I slag myself off so much. I feel empty a lot of the time.
Positive things like counselling, eating healthily or walking in nature or exercising doesn’t do anything to me. I don’t feel any different once I’ve done these.

I know this could all be mental health related but honestly I don’t recognise myself at the moment. I’ve been told I’ve had depression before but never felt this bad

I have even started to have suicidal thoughts. Not that I want to hurt myself, more “I can’t be arsed”. I’ve hit myself on the head a few times from becoming frustrated at myself. I’ve also noticed some poor memory, and I often can’t find the right words and find myself stuttering sometimes.

i literally feel like someone has swapped my brain. Could this possibly be more than just depression or mental health? Should I get my head looked at for instance?

Perhaps see your GP to discuss this with them, perhaps medication will help?

You haven't chanced method of contraception by any chance, have you?

The pill seems to ramp up my anxiety - 20s it was manageable last time I was on in early 40s I couldn't get out the front door - came on and went away shortly after starting and stopping - GP insisted it was unrelated.

Keep looking for the cause, and it may be more than one thing - work, B12, iron, hormones. Please have another go at regular exercise - if you can fit say a 30 minute brisk walk into your day? It may take a while but you should start to feel more alive. Also keep checking in with your GP. Good luck.

I am not on birth control 🙁 I forgot to add i am waking up at 3:30am every single night consistently. This has never happened before ever. This is why my cortisol levels are being tested

Have you changed your diet recently? I keto and sometimes it can make me feel jittery and anxious. Other people report either better or worse sleep or higher anxiety levels and other issues.

I'm 29 and have felt like this for a long time. I forget so many words half way through a sentence.
In my case its probably depression/very low iron/low vitamin
