Posting here for traffic so I get some answers sorry and to know if I’m worrying unnecessarily. So I had sex with my husband last night, I’m mid-cycle so around ovulation time. It was a bit uncomfortable because initially I was a bit dry during foreplay. Previously (am talking 10 years ago) I’ve had a cervical biopsy for abnormal cells and as a result of the surgery I’ve got a cervical ectropion which drs think is responsible for spotting I’ve experienced during both my pregnancies. When I was pregnant 18 months ago, I bled on examination and because of my history was sent to colposcopy where I was checked thoroughly and they said I had a very health cervix but an ectropion. After pregnancy I went to the GP about my periods which tend to be quite lengthy if I include the days of spotting I get before full flow. I was then examined in hospital and again they said I had a healthy cervix, an ectropion which was likely the cause of this but nothing to worry about. I’ve not bled after sex albeit haven’t had much this year, but this morning when I did a 💩 (tmi sorry) I had a brown tinge to my cervical mucus, the tiniest bit in my pants (blink and miss it) and nothing on wiping. The rest of the discharge is normal colour. Should I be worried or is it likely it’s just from aggravation from being a bit dry? Thank you if you’ve read this!

TLDR:
brown in discharge a day after sex, is it something to worry about or likely just from being a bit dry during sex?

This is almost certainly absolutely nothing to worry about. Brown discharge is usually old blood - basically a tiny amount of old blood/dead womb lining that got dislodged when you were having sex. This has happened to me more than once.

If you’re worried of course you can see your GP and ask for a smear. But this isn’t something that’s usually any cause for concern.

@ManateeFair thank you so much for replying, have you seen a dr previously about it and that’s what they said? I’m almost certain when I’ve spoken to drs in the past about my ectropion they said it’s a possibility it may bleed during sex etc and I’m pretty sure I remember my previous GP saying blood after sex was only usually an issue if lots of it and/or bright red which this wasn’t, so am trying to keep everything in perspective.
