I bought something online. I liked it an I wanted to buy another one before it sells out. The website says 'only 13 left in stock'.

I don't want to buy one until the 13 becomes a different number because I feel it will be unlucky! And I've been checking this repeatedly for about a month and it's just stuck at 13 left in stock. So I want it but haven't wanted to buy it.

I'm not even normally superstitious at all. I have no idea why I am being this insane. I've relatively recently suffered a bereavement so it maybe that but really WTAF?

Am I alone in my insanity or has anyone else done something as crazy? I doubt it but hold out hope for company to make me feel better.

I rotate plates semi-regularly because I feel bad for the plates that end up at the bottom of where they are stacked in a cupboard if they go too long being ignored and not getting used (as the more recently used ones are dried and stacked back on top).

I'm not superstitious mad but I do like to attribute emotions to inanimate objects. My DD loves teddies and when we go shopping for one, she takes a long time choosing. Picks them up, cuddles them, says what she likes about each one. I always feel sad for the ones that don't make it, especially those that come 2nd and 3rd. You'll be glad to know I don't share my despair with DD.

Bought a car a few weeks ago and need to sell my old one now. They are currently sat side by side outside and I feel bad for the old one, I can't look at it when I'm getting in the new one. 😅

That's all quite mad isn't it.

I always feel sad for my old car when I PX it and leave it behind as I drive away in my new one. 😂

JMSA · 21/01/2024 01:24

Umm, that's a wee bit odd, OP Grin

But get this, I just KNOW that if I had a car, I would name it and talk to it, as well as thanking it for getting me safely from A to B. I may even stroke it.

I think car bereavement is a thing. Imagine how I felt when watching my previous car (written off by an idiot turning right at the lights without checking) being driven away on the trailer, with its reg plate taped up. ☹️

It was a fun car to drive as well.

When I need to throw away items which have been useful (broken cups, for eg) I say “Thank you for your service” as I put them in the bin. It seems unfair otherwise.

I have a few eccentricities that my family and close friends know about but here’s one I have never told anyone before I really have a problem with the no three. I’m one of three siblings close in ages and we always seemed to be in conflict as kids so I think no three makes me feel uncomfortable. I won’t buy things in triple packets, when we were house hunting I refused to go and view a house that was a no3 (gave a different reason to my DH so he didn’t think I was crazy) I couldn’t have three potatoes with my dinner etc. I am fine with 13 or 23 I just don’t like no three on its own. The craziest situation I used to get myself into was the best bus to get me somewhere I needed to get to regularly ( I don’t drive) was the number three and I used to get a different numbered bus and have to walk a bit to avoid getting the best bus. Luckily after a while they had a big bus change around and renumbered the best bus. I only have 2 kids myself and that was a deliberate decision, I thought about having a third but was worried I wouldn’t love them the same. Yup I’m that crazy!

My friend can't have her radio, or the volume, on an odd number which means she can't listen to our local station .
My husband counts letters in words/names. Good ones add up to 9, sometimes it s 18 but that's OK cos 1 and 8 makes 9!!
I get out of bed on groups of 5 ie 5 past 10 past etc and I HATE the time 23:23 . I don't know why but it really freaks me out. I don't like 11.23 either but 11.11 or 23.11 is fine!

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 21/01/2024 09:58

@noooooooo I always thought the headlights were their eyes! I feel a bit less mad now.

I'm not sure about 'the farm' btw, I've been suss for a while now...

Calling · 21/01/2024 12:17

I think the recent bereavement might explain this, because people can think differently after shock or upset. You certainly aren't mad 😊Its just illogical.

Calling · 21/01/2024 12:32

I really don't like to see cushions with the 'chopped' effect in a hotel. I have to undo the 'chop'. 🙀

TheSlantedOwl · 21/01/2024 13:06

@Georgeandzippyzoo 23.23 always seems to jump out at me too - however in numerology it’s an extremely positive number: success and divine protection! Woo woo of course but a nice thought 😊

devuskums · 21/01/2024 13:26

If I look at a clock that says 13 past the hour I have to hold my breath until it says 14🥵. On the plus side, I can swim a long way underwater so I think I have breath trained myself!!

okImAMadW · 21/01/2024 17:19

@Calling thank you - I suppose it could be bereavement related. it's definitely not rational. I enjoyed reading about your chopped pillows and ta to everyone sharing their own weirdness. I am glad I'm not alone.
