First time mum and baby has touched leaded windows and licked it, I moved her straight away but worried this is dangerous should I do anything?

No. It would have to be a huuuuuuuge amount of lead.

I do leaded stained glass
if the lead is old ( Victorian/ Edwardian) it probably has an oxide film over it by now - it’s not like shiny new lead.
The glass won’t hurt.

A small exposure like that shouldn’t be harmful at all.

It's fine.

ManateeFair · 20/01/2024 16:33

Nothing to worry about whatsoever.

Echobelly · 20/01/2024 16:34

No, the risk isn't from a couple of moments of contact

galppp · 20/01/2024 16:36

Thanks. Should I wash her?

Lead is toxic , but define “ Huge” amount of lead.

A brief exposure from a lick shouldn’t be harmful, but best to not repeat the performance!

Lead paint is supposed to have a sweetish taste but most children’s toys and furniture were painted with lead paint til 1960’’s .

It's a good idea to wash your baby regularly. They do get a bit mucky round the edges.

Sorry, couldn't resist. You don't need to do anything. Keep her away from the windows if she's licky, because theres a greater risk of the glass breaking.

Allofaflutter · 20/01/2024 16:38

I wouldn’t worry too much. All my metal toys in the garden as a small child, ie swing and slide etc my grandad painted in red lead paint. I used to lick it all the time. I’m still here and that was the 70’s. The 70’s when parenting was more like survival of the fittest than actual care!

Wash her hands and face to be safe- she certainly won’t be the only child to have licked and been fascinated by stained glass
the colours and coldness and textures. 🙂
