I suggest a name after say an aunt or grandmother, or from an ancestor.

Hatty123 · 20/01/2024 16:24

My daughter is “Charlotte Penelope May” after DH’s grandmother and my favourite Aunt! Obviously in school etc only “Charlotte” is ever used.

Well, 'Winnicott' isn't even a first name, female or male! Grin Unless your family has a strong connection to the field of child psychology and you're a bit strange?

I will never understand why, in the interests of making your naming choice 'stand out' and get kudos for being 'a bit different', parents want to saddle their children with stupid non-names or names that have perfectly ok spellings in the real world but have been made to look nonsensical with daft random vowels and so on. Honestly I'm starting to have sympathies with those nations that give new parents a list of accepted names/spellings and say 'There. Pick one.' Grin

How about Charlotte María del Rosario Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y Silva Hughes

Florence

If it’s this difficult to choose a middle name then just don’t bother with one.
I haven’t got a middle name as my parents did want to offend any of the relatives at the time.
Its never been an issue and makes form filling so much easier.

Some in my family don't have middle names. I have my mum's middle name as my middle name. My brother, my dad's middle name as his. My ds has my dh middle name.

Manthide · 21/01/2024 10:05

I'm assuming Winnicott is a family surname and if so I'll probably go with that. People are not often asked about middle names except perhaps to give an initial so spelling shouldn't be a problem. I have a fairly standard middle name but my dm misspelled it by accident. I can't remember the last time it was used by anyone.
None of my 4dc have middle names and I think they felt deprived. Dd2 gave her ds 3 middle names to compensate!

I'd pick Charlotte Florence cos it's gorgeous
However I assume Jill and Winnicot have significance? What is that?
