Living room full of kids stuff

Is your living room/lounge full of your kids things (if you have small children) ?
Just looking around and realising how other things were replaced with kids toys , books etc and if this is normal 😂
We have no coffee table anymore, instead there’s a kids cooker next to the tv and tv table /cabinet thing, our sofa, dining table, bookcase and computer table & fireplace. The rest is filled with baskets with kids toys in, baskets with kids books in, a blackboard, dolls house and toy boxes with teddies in, plus my Dds little chair she sits on.
Is your downstairs living space filled with things too? She does have some things in her bedroom, but never plays there

Other than books on the bookshelf and a comfy chair, I ban all toys from being permanently in the living room. His bedroom is big enough for everything to be in, and he can play with things in and out but as soon as it’s tidying up time - it all goes back to the bedroom. I live in a small flat, so I would say that’s probably why as it’s only a few steps to get things in and out.

Well it's my daughter's home too so why shouldn't some of her stuff be in the living room?

Ours was when the dc were small! They do have a playroom as well but a few toys in the lounge. And loads of craft stuff in the kitchen. Basically spread round the house!

i never minded and we have a large house I don’t think it looked too bad. Now dc are 10 and 12, there aren’t so many toys and the play room doubles as my office. I’m actually sad I rarely see the sylvanians these days.

Obviously not everyone has a playroom. We do now and the stuff is still not contained, but when our DC were babies and toddlers we had a coffee table that was kind of a big footstool that opened. All toys lived in there. (In theory)

they still had a little armchair in the corner and a little trunk of books. I think it’s okay to have kids be in your living room space, they live there too :)

also, now we have a playroom and the kids are older I would say - I miss it. They immediately didn’t play as much in there and it was pretty much the first step of childhood stopping.

I was never going to be the parent who's living room was full of kids toys.

Except my living room is more of a playroom that happens to have the main TV in it.

This week I'm getting rid of the spare room set up downstairs, and that'll become a playroom.

I'm getting my living room back.

I can't relax like this

Yeah we have all the baby stuff (playmat etc) plus a kallax full of my older daughters toys, and a big box of art supplies on the dining table. I like it- my house growing up was one where all the toys had to be hidden upstairs, no eating in the living room etc. Mine probably doesn’t look as nice but it feels a lot more relaxed to me. I quite like finding strange setups of toys in random places (like Barbies lined up on a windowsill) and wondering what sort of game DD was playing!

DCs have a playroom and a large bedroom to play in. We had the living room fairly free of toys until Christmas, when they ended up with so many toys they migrated there. I like seeing the toys though - it's like a trace of their play time, it's still part of their home, and I've no issues with not being able to relax around their toys. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they stop playing with toys and hide away in their rooms so I'm happy to embrace the chaos for now.

Yes completely taken over with kids stuff, I don't find it stressful. I find it odd seeing homes with children living there that look like they don't..
