Men an botox

Meant to be lighthearted but I’m so curious / nosey..
Do loads of men now have Botox? Is it getting more common for men to also use it?
Since going back into work in January I’ve noticed loads of the 40/50 something men in the office seem incredibly smooth. My DH was late to
It now seems like most people over 40 seem to use Botox or fillers…

Is it a thing or AIBU?

It is increasingly necessary for the workforce with ageism

Direstraightsagain · 14/01/2024 18:24

@RachelGreep87 A friend of mine said that she felt more confident with it too when she was interviewing, specifically due to ageism… perhaps men are also feeling the same pressures …

Yes. I’d like to allow my greys to come in, but am applying for jobs, and unfortunately it’s another impediment.

Purplecatshopaholic · 14/01/2024 18:32

I’m sure loads of blokes do - why wouldnt they. Must admit I’ve never seen a bloke ever in the place i go…

Blueeyedmale · 14/01/2024 18:32

I've never had Botox and neither would I consider it.im 43 now and have used moisturiser every day since my late teens and in the last 10 years I've also been using serum on a daily basis.

idontlikealdi · 14/01/2024 19:08

Yes, as do women.

jeaux90 · 14/01/2024 19:10

I have Botox. Absolutely love it and yes I am seeing more men do it too.

EffieGraysDisappointingWeddingNight · 14/01/2024 19:12

I'm sure increasing numbers of men use botox but I'd be pretty confident in saying that women with botox still outnumber men with botox by long way.

Personally I'd find it a major turn off if a potential romantic partner was botoxed.

jeaux90 · 14/01/2024 19:14

@EffieGraysDisappointingWeddingNight why a turn off? I mean I do it to extend my career, I'm 52 and ageism especially against women is real.

Why would it put you off a man?

MillarMountVandal · 14/01/2024 19:17

I have my frown and crows botoxed.

I only know of a handful of men who get botox, they're all gay (I don't mean that as a stereotype or a slight btw, 100% just an observation).

I prefer my men a bit grizzled and gnarly.

It would just be an instant turn off to think they were getting botox or fillers.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 14/01/2024 19:19

A lot of manscaped eyebrows too.

Mybingoballs · 14/01/2024 19:23

I have it for migraines… no choice really but ask me the question would I have it if I had no migraines? YES and I would pay privately if I didn’t get it for my migraines on the NHS via Neurologist as it’s saved my life.

Direstraightsagain · 14/01/2024 19:54

@MillarMountVandal that is why I noticed it. As previously the men I know who had it done were gay. But I’ve noticed it’s got wider…
I know one of my friends husbands does. She told me in strict confidence and I was really surprised as I wouldn’t have thought he was bothered by ageing but he looks good with it.
Im noticing it more as I’m really wavering. I’m noticing changes in my skin and more than half of my friends have gone for it and they look good.. I’m a bit scared…

I also think it’s related to ageism at work as several women have told me that is the reason they get it done

Botox is fine - its very quick, and its not painful. If you want to try it, just get one area for your first time (maybe your frown) and look at crows (or other areas, if you fancy) the next time. I don't get botox in my forehead, just my frown - it's a fine line to venturing into the over done look (and no one suits that!).

Filler is another story... though I only have a little filler in my cheeks (I've got full lips naturally, so I personally wouldn't go there with filler). Filler isn't a terribly pleasant experience. It's not hugely painful, just uncomfortable - and a sort of strange feeling 🫤

The only other treatment I have is HIFU. Its a nice relaxing treatment, and freshens my face/neck nicely.

Maddy70 · 14/01/2024 22:38

Lost of my male friends have botox. As do most of my female friends. Its all very opely talked about

Delatron · 14/01/2024 22:41

I don’t like an overly preened man
so it would put me off. Like them a bit rough n ready - don’t mind chest hair, grey hair, wrinkles. Couldn’t stand it if they were all fresh faced and coiffed.
