To think doing things such as bubble planet London

Are things that are treats and the average person wouldn’t do something like that every week

Why? If I lived closer I would be making the most of the amount of stuff London had. As it stands we’re only 45 minutes away from waterloo but exorbitant train costs for our family of 5 cost more than most of the entrance fees to these places so while we don’t do them every week we do them in the holidays and then stuff more local to us weekly. Most weekends we go out and do ‘something’ though.

if i was closer id consider eg british museum whenever poss

TheLogicalSong · 13/01/2024 23:47

Never heard of it (I'm up north) but Google tells me:

"Standard tickets start from £13.90 for children and £17.90 for adults. Under fours go free. VIP tickets cost £31.90 per adult, £26.90 for kids"

That doesn't sound shockingly expensive for London.

Not sure why you'd want to go every week - the novelty would soon wear off.

Bubble Planet is a venue in Wembley. Had to Google it. Is this an attempt at social marketing?

I would imagine it's as much a regular occurrence as going to the cinema or theatre etc.

commonground · 13/01/2024 23:55

Do you work there, OP?! It's finishing soon so it won't need to be a weekly occurrence. Plus it's in Wembley, which is kind of a trek (unless you live there, obvs)

MissersMercer · 13/01/2024 23:58

We do stuff like that often. We were in London today doing something and are back next weekend. Nice to do things.

Agreed, not that I’d go to that particular attraction more than once but it seems quite reasonable. I wouldn’t go to London specifically for it but I’d happily spend that kind of amount on a local trip out over a weekend.

CallHerGreen · 14/01/2024 00:12

We live in London. On average, I'd say we go to places like the Science Museum every 2 - 3 weeks, particularly when it's cold and playgrounds are unappealing. Bubble Planet looks more expensive, but I'd regard it as the sort of thing we might do once a month or so. Not every week (sounds too much like hard work) but not a once a year treat either. But it surely depends on your finances and tastes.

Why? Cost!!

Someone said tickets "Aren't shockingly expensive," but that's obviously relative.

(P.s. If this is actually a marketing ploy then it's an awesome idea! 😂🙈)

Nevermind31 · 14/01/2024 00:24

Depends on your priorities, surely?

peskykiddds · 14/01/2024 00:56

That's a once or twice a year treat for us, cost-wise.

WhatanEmbarrasment · 14/01/2024 01:05

It would be expensive for me as I have 4 children so no not somewhere I would go regularly or even monthly

Theatrefan12 · 14/01/2024 01:15

It’s all relative isn’t it. To some it’s a treat, to some not

To some it’s an afternoon out, to others it is part of a bigger trip that has to be planned and has other expenses

The benefit of living in a big city is that there are lots of things, for all budgets, on all the time

OneMoreTime23 · 14/01/2024 01:22

I’m in London for work 2 nights a week. Generally do something on one night to make the most of it.

WagWoofWalkMeeoow · 14/01/2024 01:25

Never heard of it before now!

looks like a visit to Wembley is on the cards!

@Walkingqueen8 surely it depends on your disposable income AND the lifestyle you enjoy.

A friend has 2 kids & 2 skids. 11-16. They have all four one weekend a month, each set on their own once a month & 1 child free weekend a month & practically every weekend they 'do' something. Both work, but he earns a lot of money for very little work son they have a lot of child free time in the week days too. Theyre always out for a nice lunch, gigs galore etc.

its a fun life they have

BUT their kids now expect it & can't just 'be at home' chilling out.

OTOH another set of friends never go anywhere, kids aren't allowed to go to friends or have friends over. Just the 4 of them, always. I find that a bit too intense.
