To put baby in own room at almost 8 months?!

Finally moving into our new home next week and our DD's room is almost complete on decorating and I've been really excited for her to have her own room and space.

A friend recently commented that I should have her in our bedroom until 1 as the risk of SIDS decreases massively at this stage and now I keep worrying about it.

DD will be 8 months on 22nd of this month and has started to become disturbed by DH snoring and his work alarm so I thought this move was perfect timing.

She still wakes occasionally and I will have camera and baby monitors next to my bed but now I'm wondering whether I should keep her in with us for another few months.

Help?!

DC2 was 4 months when we moved her into the room right next door. We all slept so much better. So 8 months is fine. Just keep the cot free from any toys/bumpers etc.

My LO was 4 weeks old. He used to squeak all night. As long as the baby is safe and you have a monitor it's ffine.he slept from 12 till 6 from then.

Ours too. He is now a strapping (and very much alive) 7 year old!

Teddies are alright. My son had a bunny and a cow blanket in with him

Yes - I did it at 2 months for DS1 on HV recommendation. She said it was the only part of the safe sleeping guidance that she disagreed with because it’s far better to move a baby well before 6 months than after. They’re more likely to notice the change and object when they’re older , and sleep problems will be so much worse.

With DS2 I waited until 6 months because he had quite a few colds and was very snuffly from 2-4 months (winter) and I wouldn’t move him into his own room until those had long gone and I wasn’t worried about his breathing.

I’ve never heard of a 12 month recommendation. It could be hard to move baby as late as that - although plenty of families are short of space and have babies and toddlers in with them for longer.

Mine were 10 days, possibly less for DC 2 &3! It saved my sanity. Having said that, there is much more information now & I probably wouldn't do it if I was having children now.

same here!
