To ask for your experiences with teeth aligners?

Sorry for the boring topic! I just had some aligners fitted a couple of months ago on my teeth and will have them for about a year, until just before next Christmas. They’re aiming to correct a slight open bite I have, and to straighten out both my top and bottom teeth.

I’ve found them okay so far. Not found them painful really, but I’ve definitely felt a lot of pressure on my teeth, especially with this current set (my fourth set, out of twenty).

Just interested to find out others’ experiences with aligners and if you’ve found them helpful.

Thanks all! Good to hear your experiences. For people on here who have finished your aligners treatment, have you noticed a big difference between your teeth before and after? I’m getting impatient and would love to see the final result of my treatment now, but I know I still need to wait for a long while!

Yes mine were amazing! I'd had a fixed brace before but hadn't been able to afford a new retainer for about 5 years in my twenties and my teeth moved back, so when I was 30 I got Invisalign and it made my teeth look amazing.
Once you've got your teeth settled (1-2 years post-straightening) you can actually drop to wearing your retainer every other day which is better for your dental health as a retainer holds the plaque against your teeth (hence the death breath you get when wearing aligners).
One thing I will say is, if you ever have to do tooth whitening in the future (which I'm doing atm), don't do the whitening solidly for the two weeks, it takes longer but make sure you wear your retainer every other day (or two days of whitening, one day of retainer) to keep the shape of your teeth! And replace your retainer every 2-3 years or if it cracks.
