ECG holter report - can someone explain the report.

For a colleague , currently they are on LTS and have a review with HR, who have asked for an update on their health.

They can’t get an GP appointment until after the HR appointment so asking if anyone can translate the report for them, as they are wanting to go back to work ASAP.

They were in bed mostly during the 48 hr monitoring due to being ill (no fever). On day 5/6 of a winter bug (they basically slept for the most part)

Both the colleagues GP and the work OH (doctor) have signed colleague off as not fit for work however they may be able to return if the report is normal as they can be put on medication to treat/help ongoing symptoms while investigations by consultant are ongoing.

The medication however can cause heart issues however not recommended as colleague has episodes of heart palpitations/fluttering/unconscious passing out.

The report says also no symptoms reported however colleague did advise the nurse that they had experienced fluttering.

Can anyone help with the report please

Why does the colleague want to get back to work so much? Is it due to pay/being skint? Otherwise they need to listen to medical advice.

JustTalkToThem · 11/01/2024 16:44

Do you really think that HR is going to accept a Mumsnet post as evidence?

She needs to wait for her doctors.

That report unfortunately isn't enough to properly analyse a holter report - normally the analysis involves looking through the recordings and a person checking measurements / readings to compile the report.

They should rearrange the HR appointment if they're asking for a health update they can't give.

No, income isn’t an issue .

Their current symptoms means they are stuck at home due to their symptoms and they are exhausted, all of their support net work works so they are also feeling extremely isolated and is impacting on their MH.

If the heart report is clear then they can ask the consultant to put them back on medication asap.
(GP won’t prescribe as under consultant care, however as the GP asked for the ECG the report goes back to the GP)

(They were previously on the medication however due to the heart issues they were told to immediately stop by the consultant)

Thank you @justalittlesnoel .

Attached is what was on their NHS app, so hopefully the GP has more to the report.

Think they are just desperate to have some normality back in their life and trying to move things along as fast as they can.

The heart rate variability looks more than average ( 136 beats per minute ) which is high in someone not exercising. She needs to wait for the formal report .

Lavenderandbrown · 11/01/2024 18:04

It’s normal. The HR of 136 is ?? Apparently it was not sustained it self resolved and as it says gradual onset and termination makes me think she was exorcising? The summation sentence clearly states sinus rhythm. It appears no afib no pvc no tachycardia. (No burden). I would suggest call the gp ask for nurse line.. state monitor report appears to be normal can this be looked at so I can return to work?

Lavenderandbrown · 11/01/2024 18:10

And in rereading post…illness can cause an elevated heart rate. Fever dehydration shifting of metabolites can cause tachycardia aka fast heart rate. I had to google “diurnally” which means during day altho it was 8 pm. She can take a low dose beta blocker for palpitations if prescribed. The patient reports symptoms by either handwriting them on a log or journal or entering them into a device which looks like and acts like a smart phone. The patient logs their symptoms so it unclear how the symptoms were not included in the report

Some of the report is missing
