Newborn will sleep in moses basket during the day but won't on a night.

Only posting here so it gets responses. She'll happily sleep in it during the day but refuses on a night. I had no issues with my son with this. So I have to cosleep. I do love the extra cuddles. Think she does too. Soon as shes in my arms goes to sleep. As she's my last going to make the most of it but just wondering if anyone else went through this and did it pass?

@RosemaryDill and the cot is in his room. Was never in my room

I had this with my first. I bought a co sleeper / next time me and she settled much better. She was premature so actually co sleeper wasn't an option.

I think the next to me she could see me, I could reach over and place a hand to help settle her etc. it's worth a try, ours was under £100 so not super pricey.

RosemaryDill · 11/01/2024 17:43

My son is still using the cot.
Ah yes, we ended up getting a second cot as DC were only 2 years apart.

Rockschooldropout · 11/01/2024 17:47

My grandson is a year old now and my daughter found he settled in a next to me cot .. it clips onto the bed .. might be worth trying that ? She got hers second hand and it was immaculate

I ordered this from Germany: https://stubenwagen.de/fabimax-beistellbett-basic-weiss-mit-matratze.html

Solid, large enough that they could stay in it that bit longer. I stored nappies etc hung off one end. Was a Godsend post first c-section when I was in a lot of pain for several weeks. I loved being able to watch and adore baby from a lying position without the worries that come with sharing the bed.

Definitely going to look in to it. I'm going to try and warm the moses basket cause I think its the temperature putting her off and will put her down she's in a deep sleep

We had progress last night 😊 swaddled her. Not with a cellular blanket. A nice fleece one my mam got her. So it was definitely not the right temperature for her. She slept in it. @soupandcrackers @newrubylane @Katela18 @SouthLondonMum22 @Caiti19 @K37529 @Devilsmommy @Bonbontutu @RosemaryDill @DreadPirateRobots @Rockschooldropout @MumblesParty

@blackpanth oh that's brilliant, glad you got it sussed😊

Owlsoutsidethewindow · 13/01/2024 07:44

It passes OP. My first fell asleep in the moses basket immediately on their own with just a bit or comfort. My second wouldn't sleep without contact. I had to shift my expectations and we co-slept for 2 months. He now sleeps in his crib.

Owlsoutsidethewindow · 13/01/2024 07:46

Also for swaddling, try love2dream waddles. They're handy especially for in the night if you have to do a bum change and don't want to unwrap baby.

KT8282 · 13/01/2024 07:50

newborns need lots of cuddles so it’s possible by bedtime she is no longer happy being put down to sleep. Could you contact nap more in the day, at least in the evening, to see if she’s more willing to then be put down at night?

She goes to sleep swaddled 😊

She goes to sleep swaddled 😊

Swaddling is miles different to being cuddled. My 1mo DS2 is swaddled (as was DS1) but I do think he’s less settled if we’ve had to have him sleep more in the bassinet in the day. He has just been poorly with a cold and the night before any symptoms started he just wanted to be cuddled to sleep and didn’t seem to want to be in the cot for any length of time. Swaddling is great but nothing replaces the warmth and smell of a mummy cuddle for a newborn.

I know that. I do love the cuddles but glad she slept in the moses basket. Means I got proper sleep. You don't really when you co sleep.

That’s fabulous news @blackpanth .. hopefully a proper nights sleep for you too as I always felt like I slept with one eye open if I co slept ..☺️

Aw, glad you've had some success!
Vinted is good if you want to get an actual swaddle! I go a few from there for a few pounds!

Poppysmom22 · 13/01/2024 19:01

Is there a chance that the Moses basket lets a draft get to her those mattresses aren’t that thick and I can imagine everything gets much cooler in the night
