To ask husband to fancy dress for sons 5th birthday party

My son is having a pokemon themed bouncy castle party in the local sport centre.
He loves imaginary play and 'playing pokemon in real life'. We often have to have practice battles at home.
I'd love to dress up as Jessie and James for his birthday party. But no other parents have dressed up and I'm not sure if the other kids would 'get' it because they're not all into pokemon.

I know my son would love it but also worry it would be a bit 'cringe' and fall flat 😂.
Plus I know my husband probably doesn't want to do it 😂

I also feel like it won't be long until he'll be too old to do that kinda thing as well though.

You’re got to respect your husband’s preference on dressing up I think.

If he is not up for it do you have a close friend among the other adults attending (or even someone who you haven’t invited yet who would be game for a laugh) whom you could partner up with? I agree with others, it’s not cringe and can be a brilliant experience for the kids but all adults doing the dressing up need to be enthusiastic, otherwise it’s mean on them, and the effect will be lost too.

Aren't there any smaller comic con events going on anywhere near you? I'd save it for that. Knee high boots and mini skirt for a five year olds bouncy castle party? No. Get a shirt and join in instead.

@peachsweettea it was a kind of Victorian dress like this, Smee would have been a more suitable option for the ex!
