So DS2 age 7 has a broken 1st tooth, and over the Christmas holidays he got an abscess on it. As our dentist was closed we took him to the emergency dental service at a hospital about 15 miles away, they said to get our dentist to refer him back to them after the holidays as the tooth needs to come out, and gave him anti biotic' s.
So we go back to our dentist and the refer him, we went back to the hospital on March 3rd, to be told they will refer him to another dental clinic, so we now have an appointment for April 8th, BUT this place will not be taking the tooth out they will refer him to the hospital!!!!

Its a first tooth, numb his gum and pull it out FFS.
Guess who has been up all night with a child screaming in pain as there is another abscess so I am waiting for the dentist to open and hope I can get some more anti biotic's (I hate have to medicate my children with anything).

Sorry for rant, tired and feeling very sorry for DS2,

awww ty imi gld your ds got sorted ....
unfortuntely we didnt get on so good.......(rant coming .....) the farkin NHS!!! ds1 is 14 and really does have shocking orthodontic issues we have been seeing an orthodontist for 3 yers never had braces this ws just in 'prep' after 3 years she decides she cant help him saying his oral health gums and teeth arent upto it yet contrary to that shes authorised various work models etc our dentist assures us that with the overcrowding he has hes at maximum potential oral health wise ds1 is such lovely lad yet he feels so low in confidence due to this problem.
so i email top ortho at teaching hospital they agree to take him on ....xms he is promised a brace we re now in march and the dentist has confidentially told me that they cant put a brace on until his second teeth are thru at the back and side!!!! now im not stupid and i understand that he needs the support from the other teeth to pull the crooked teeth together BUT wtf havent they told us this before so really we re no nearer and our poor ds1 is left hanging hes in year 10 at school and is used to the teasing but why should he have to put up with this????? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr apparently they do a half brace so maybe thats an option???

KimiKilledTheEasterBunny · 18/03/2008 14:49

Windy I think I am keeping listerine in business .

DS2 keeps looking at his tooth in the little pot and saying "I should have brushed you more" .

Had a yogurt now and seems much brighter. So glad it is over, I am going to bed at 8.00 tonight I am so worn out DS1 went to school knackered as DS2s crying kept waking him up too

KimiKilledTheEasterBunny · 18/03/2008 15:53

I have given birth twice, without so much as a paracetamol for pain relief, but toothache is one pain I can not deal with, And I felt so helpless when he was sobbing.

so glad he has had it out

toothache really is the worst pain in the world and it must have ben terrible for you to see him and so much pain and feel like you were not getting anywhere.

KimiKilledTheEasterBunny · 18/03/2008 17:31

Its been a long drawn out thing but I am so glad that his tooth is out, I felt so sorry for him.
He was a star though, but by god did it bleed

He is going to have some dinner and has proudly shown DS1 his tooth in its little box.
It will be going under his pillow soon.
