Reasonable amount of noise from Neigbour

Own a 3 bed semi. Whilst I expect noise, what is a reasonable amount?

My Neigbour’s seem to be naturally noisy, can’t go up and down the stairs without hearing them and they also work unsocial hours so are often banging around at 3/4 in the morning.

It now seems he’s taken up guitar with an Amp. I can hear him playing guitar through the wall and when I’m up stairs in other rooms that are the other side of the house. Am I unreasonable to ask him to turn it down?

Some houses naturally carry noise. And thin walls don’t help. When not living in a detached house you have to kind of
get used to the sound of other people living their lives. So like general talking, appliances, footsteps sounds, music at a reasonable volume etc. We can hear our neighbours all the time (voices, TV, appliances etc), it’s just part and parcel of life in an attached house. I used to be worried about sound I might make, knowing how thin the walls are but then I decided I wasn’t going to tiptoe round my own house.
People shouldn’t be playing loud music, frequently shouting, having their dogs bark, using tools etc i think between the hours or 11pm-7am legally.

I think it’s just deciding that line. I’ve asked other neighbours in the same properties on the road what the noise levels are like and theirs isn’t as bad.

I think if it wasn’t the guitar playing all day Saturday and Sunday I wouldn’t be bothered.

We have noisy neighbours - it’s very distressing at times.
Speak to him or write a note to explain how much you can hear. He can get headphones for the amp so that you’re not disturbed.
