To believe that banks can certify bank statements?

I originally posted in chat, and although helpful, I only received one reply.

I'd like to know for certain if all banks can certify bank statements, as my DSis is going through court proceedings at the moment, and her ex has been ordered to send in his bank statements.
How can my DSis know for sure the copies she will see haven't been altered?
She has asked her ex before to have them verified ahead of the case, but he told her that banks don't do this. Is he right?

I used to work in a bank (albeit years ago!) And I used to certify bank statements.

The answer you had in the other one was fine.

Thank you, was this something all banks do do you know?

Yes, all banks were able to certify their own documents when I worked there.

Yes. The bank can stamp each page in branch to show the statements are official — this is what e.g. the Home Office require for proof of income in visa applications.

Sorely she just needs to ask the bank in question to confirm if they can do it?

Thanks for the helpful comments
