To be shocked at 28 year old developing anarexia

Dd 28 in July was overweight then lost a large amount of weight very quickly. She’s now diagnosed with anorexia. Aibu to think this is quite old for eating disorder development?

I developed anorexia when I was in my last year at university so I was 22. It was at its worst when I was about 25/26. I am completely recovered now.
I found getting help very difficult despite going to the doctor to say my periods had stopped (I was under 7 stone and 5’6”). I was desperate for them to notice I was ill and help me (without telling them about my problems with food) but I guess maybe my age made them think it couldn’t be anorexia.
perhaps if I’d been a teenager going to the GP because my periods had stopped and I was visibly very underweight, they may have considered it.
I ended up paying for private counselling.

My eating disorder started when I was 35.

OP - I think you need to educate yourself on anorexia/eating disorders to ensure you are able to offer your DD the correctly support. It's a tricky illness to understand

No, there is a big upswing in older people developing eating disorders.
