How did people cope with mothers that age and get kind of dementia? Lots of passive aggressive in glad I'm not ill as you have a lot on so you can't help me.
How did amazing MN's cope?

I'd use that as - while you're not ill, let's set up LPA so that I'll be able to help you when the time comes. If she has dementia it will make things a lot easier in the future.

I'd agree with the above poster. Get lasting power of attorney. I have it for my mum, who - touch wood - is currently in zero need of my involvement.

My parents got it for my dads parents back in the day. When actually my grandma had quite obvious dementia at the time. They just about managed to get her to sign the forms, but it was a bit touch and go - as you have to have full mental ability - but we suspect a kindly solicitor a little "looked the other way."
